So, I went to my bank today in the hope that the lady clerk will have an idea how to deal with the "paying for LJ" problem. Well, she had not. The only credit cards our banks deal with are Visa and Mastercard, and those don't work with LJ, unless they have been issued by Russian banks, which my card has not. She was also not familiar with the YooMoney payment service, and the computers in the bank underlie serious restrictions, due to data protecting (with which I whole-heartedly agree), so we couldn't check out the link LJ Support had sent me.

So, just for the record: has anyone managed to renew their paid account? And if yes, how did you do it? I still have a month to figure out a way, but I have no idea what to do. :( Help, please?

In other news, the two rag dolls have gone to their new home. My friend and ex-colleague was over the moon, she loved them so much, and didn't mind that they are (more than a bit) oddly shaped. So, that's one tiny piece of success for the day. One has to count one's blessings.

I've also made Mum's birthday cake: a chestnut one, with chocolate icing and decorated with mini marshmallows. We haven't cut it yet, as the big day is tomorrow, but she approved of it.

More social life was had as I talked on the phone to two more former colleagues; all in all, it was a good day.

That's really inconvenient with LJ ... not their fault either.
I'm so glad I have a permanent account!

It´s mostly impossible to do bank remittances to Russia at the moment!

I hoped it would be different for us, since our feckless leader kisses P's ass with some regularity, but apparently I was wrong.

Well, if I can't get this sorted I'll have to switch back to a free account as well, but that would mean serious restrictions where storage space for pictures is concerned. Plus, I'd be blasted by the stupid ads... :(

I feel for you I really do. LJ won't accept any payments from me as well. And do to a literal bout of a side effect of brain trauma I forgot/lost my info on my original lj account. I could no longer access it and Lj support did nothing to help. There are photos there that no longer exist anywhere else.. :(

I went to the purchase page to see if I could figure out how to purchase a year for you as a gift. No luck, I couldn’t manage to negotiate the page. Why is LJ making it so difficult? You’d think they would want to take people’s money!

It is not their fault. It's because the sanctions against Russia — the companies releasing Visa and Mastercard boycott Russian banks. *sigh*

Thank you for trying to help. You are such a good friend. *hugs*

Mum's cake sounds yummy, but your baking always sounds yummy to me. I'm sorry about the lj woes. I assumed that my not being able to spend was due to sanctions.

I sent them a message saying I was very sorry that I could not pay — but it is not possible to use roubles here. But that I would be happy to pay in retrospect if they ever get it sorted.

And so far, although I haven't paid, they have left my journal as it would be if I had.

They gifted 3 months of paid time upon me when I contacted them about the problem but also said they probably won't be able to do so again. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

Some people have put in a message and gotten a free year.
