Well, this was unexpected
Jan. 15th, 2025 10:10 pm... and not in a good way, either.
Today's plan was to take it easy, cook a light lunch (carrot soup and Topfenknödel would have been on the menu) and do some things for fun, like crafting, writing, or - not so fun but necessary - continuing with the decluttering project.
Instead, Mum woke me up at around 6am to ask me for an Aspirin because she was hurting... practically everywhere where she had any joints and bones. So much so that she hadn't slept an hour during the night. A glance through the window revealed the likely reason for it: it was snowing like crazy! Well, I gave her the Aspirin, she went back to bed but couldn't really sleep much afterwards, either.
The morning went with relative ease, we had breakfast, watched some telly, I made one shoe for the rag doll and did some writing that will never be posted anywhere (I just have the irregularly resurfacing urge to write something smutty)... and then things started deteriorating.
I've made the carrot soup when Mum told me not to bother with anything else because she won't be able to eat it. She was cold and felt weak like a kitten, and when she actually ate some of the soup, it came back up right away. So I gave her a pill against indigestion, which helped a bit, and then she decided to lie down to rest after her sleepless night.
Only that she couldn't get up from the armchair at all. She tried and fell back three or four times. In the end, I dragged the armchair (with her in it) to the bed, lifted her out of the chair and placed her on the bed in a sitting position, from where she finally struggled into lying. I must admit that I was panicking from the thought that she might become completely bedridden or whatnot.
I was so distressed that I actually dismantled the Christmas tree, just to keep myself occupied, so there's one good thing that has come out of all this mess.
Fortunately, in the evening she was able to get up (with considerable help but still) and have a light supper of yogurt, some crackers and a quarter of a banana. But we are back to using the loo console for the time being again, which means for me getting up in the night repeatedly. I so hoped we'd be over that for good! But at least she can stand on her own two feet again, even though walking will have to wait a bit longer.
As I said, I was scared out of my wits; talking to H. and my friend Evie on the phone helped a bit, but the next couple of days might be hard. *sigh*
