I've begun posting parts of my Orc essay to the Otherworlds discussion board. Comments, questions, discussion, etc., are very welcome. It's in the public area, so everyone can comment without the need to sign up to the board.

Date: 2005-04-04 08:23 pm (UTC)The other parts will mostly handle the fanfiction appearance of Orcs, though, and my own ideas about the Uruk-hai, so I'm not sure how much it would match your interests.
Erm... where does Jackson address the religous aspects of LOTR? Granted, I was fuming too much through TTT and ROTK to catch any subtle hints, but what have I missed?

Date: 2005-04-05 10:45 am (UTC)The scene in Minas Tirith, where Gandalf quotes Tolkien's words about Frodo's arrival in the Undying Lands to assure Pippin there's a life after death. It's too much out of context for me, even if it could be maintained that Frodo's passage to the Undying Lands is a metaphor for death. Other than that, I agree there isn't much.
I'll read Part 3 soon.
