So, I went to the government office today. Sat there for about an hour, and in the end couldn't solve the problem, after all. At least we know now what the problem was, but to solve it, Mum should have a new ID card made, which she does not want to do; not to mention that getting her to the office is less than feasible. We hope that Telecom might accept the document they gave me, but if it doesn't work, then it doesn't work. I'm out of options here.

To work out my frustration, I've visited several shops selling craft supplies and bought all this stuff, most of it just because it was pretty. I'm not entirely certain what I'm going to do with some of them, but they are so lovely, I just couldn't resist. *sigh*

The whole morning was eaten up by this, and I was so kaputt after it that I had to sleep half the afternoon. I managed to write a few lines of dialogue, but that's basically all.

What an ordeal. I'm so sorry. I hope what you have now will be enough, but who knows... You really can't win against bureaucracy.

It's so frustrating! And all this because some idiot at the Home Office made a mistake: they forgot to add one of Mum's given names; and they wrote her birthplace with Hungarian spelling instead of the Romanian one. So things are now in three different combinations in their database, Mum's birth certificate and her ID card, respectively.

And all this hassle for trying to run the landline under my name instead of Mum's!

oh god Romanian vs Hungarian spelling. probably some patriotic bullshit bureaucrat who did not figure out that willy-nilly changing documents is not something you can do

this is so stupid, now I'm even more mad on your behalf than if it was just regular bureaucracy being overly complicated

I nearly bought Christmas stickers the other day ... until I found my stash!

Finding my stash didn't hinder me in buying new ones. So now I'm decorating some more envelopes for the fair with the old ones. *g*

That's a lot of pretty stuff for Christmas! I'm envious!
I remember that my mum, too, was confronted with similar problems. Only that the people at the office got their share of dragon's breath then, and at some point they gave up, before they got burned to crisps.

I feel you re documentation. My passport will run out this year and I have no driving licence, so proving to someone's satisfaction that I am me, is going to be challenging.
