Ten little snowmen
Nov. 4th, 2024 07:32 pm... have nothing to do with Dame Agatha Christie, honestly! See: do they look like criminals to you?. Well, some of them actually might, since these craft googly eyes move at their own will, making their owners a bit cross-eyed, but still...
The truth behind the story is that Mum and I really, really don't like Raffaellos. For some reason people tend to gift them on us, though, and I don't want to give them away, unless I am absolutely certain that the recipient likes them. So I had to find a creative alternate use for them. Making bouquets like these was one way, but it is very painstaking work with the rose petals and takes forever. So I opted for the snowmen. They are quick and easy to make.
I've already done them once,, and I think they looked better that way, but I had these large pom-poms from a kit I had bought last year for some reason I don't really understand and wanted to use them up. I still have 4 Raffaellos left, perhaps I'll make them according the older design. We'll see. I've run out of the oversized pom-poms, thank God, so I'll return to the pressed paper ball heads, but add the Nespresso capsule hats, I think, as I still have a lot of those.
I also made another pencil holder, since we had canned pumpkin soup today (which I bought as an experiment; won't do so again) and I'm a hoarder in the heart of my hearts who hates throwing out anything that still can be of use. That's why my study/workroom looks as if a bomb had exploded in it. In other areas I'm very ordered, but when crafting I need all my supplies and tools around me, preferably at the same time. *g*
Group photo of all the new pencil holders will come up when I can be reasonably sure that I won't make more ones in the foreseeable future. (As if!) Or right before the Christmas fair (much more likely possibility).
Other than that, the water maters got exchanged for new ones today, so we had a somewhat hectic day, but it wasn't too bad. Four of my usual customers gave their orders for Christmas goodies and my friend Evie called me on the phone, so that was social life for me.
Some writing was also done today. It's amazing how many things one can do if one gives up approximately three hours of sleep. I had to get up early because the workmen might have come at 8am already. It turned out they started on the 10th level and got to us around 11am, but at least I put the time to good use.

Date: 2024-11-04 06:58 pm (UTC)Which reminds me that I ´ll better have an early night, because tomorrow husband mine will be off at seven, to bring Xaver to school- and a check of the gas heating is scheduled. Our technicians always come early...
