Okay, folks, let's the madness begin! As I said, this is just a preliminary plan; things might change as I go on, but we'll see.

Dedication: to [livejournal.com profile] manue7a, who couldn't imagine 30 different biscuits. Here you go, my friend. :)

Planned are:
1. Cashew-coconut balls (an old favourite)
2. Ginger meringues (to use up all those remaining egg whites)
3. Coffee-cocoa biscuits (new)
4. Macadamia biscuits
5. Nougat-cinnamon balls (new)
6. Toffee-Brazil nut cookies (new)
7. Maple-Pecan nut cookies (another old favourite)
8. Chocolate pretzels with pistachios (an absolute highlight)
9. Pecan-marshmallow cookies
10. Aniseed shortbread with pine nuts
11. Almond-poppy stars (filled with apricot jam)
12. Ma'amuls (date biscuits from Iran - new)
13. Baci di Dama (Italian almond biscuits with chocolate filling)
14. Vanillekipferln (a classic for Mum because she loves them; we both do)
15. Chocolate-almond biscuits (with red currant jam filling)
16. Chestnut swirls
17. Hazelnut stars (with meringue topping)
18. Chocolate-peanut cookies
19. Mozartkrapferln? (filled walnut biscuits)
I'm a bit unsure about this one because it has butter cream filling and thus won't last long; perhaps I'll exchange it for something else.
20. Orangenbusserln (an absolutely fabulous one)
21. Hazelnut cookies
22. Marzipan pretzels (another old hit I make every year)
23. Oatcakes with dates
24. Italian pistachio cookies
25. Orange biscuits (filled with lemon jelly or orange marmalade - new)
26. Filled ginger biscuits (like above, I haven't decided yet which filling goes into which biscuits - also new!)
27. Italian lemon biscuits (new)
28. Nougat hearts and stars
29. Ginger stars (new)
30. Soft Amaretti cookies
31. Chocolate-almond stars (another old favourite)
32. Kokosmakronen

Somehow this pre-Christmas baking frenzy has gained a life of its own in recent years. But at least quite a few families (or rather poor, overstressed mothers/grandmothers) are happy that I take it out of their hands.

I'll bet they're happy. Go you for doing all that work. Most of these aren't familiar to me, but they do sound good.

There'll be pictures, eventually, so you can make their acquaintance. ;))

I really do. And giving them away provides me with the excuse I need to repeat the madness each year. *g*
BTW, I've just added two more to the list, basically because I need a way to use up the egg whites that remain from the other biscuits. Fortunately, Kokosmakronen alone require four of the things.

I hope they are going to be. And that their appearance will match their yumminess. *g*

Wow, quite a list! I know you bake for enjoyment, but that is a lot of work!

I'm sorry to have been absent for awhile. Life has taken quite a turn this month and not for the better. My husband had an operation three years ago to fuse discs in his neck that were compressing his spinal cord. The operation was to stop further damage, not fix the damage that had already occured. After the operation, he walked with a cane but developed muscle spasms (clonus) which left him fatigued. He needed a rollator (a rolling walker with a seat) to walk any distance. His condition further deteriorated and he began using a regular walker full time. He also had to quit driving. Although his condition worsened, he could still get around and walk up and down stairs and to the car, so I could drive him places.

Then this past month, he suddenly started going downhill fast. He went from walking with the walker to barely able to take 4 to 5 steps without shaking and feeling as if he would fall. I had to call an ambulance to get him to the doctor. He was admitted to the hospital that day and the next Tuesday had a second operation to again fuse discs in his neck and remove bone that was pressing on the back side of the spinal fluid channel. He stayed in the hospital for a week and then was transferred to a rehab hospital.

As of right now, he is still there. The goal is to get him back walking with the walker. But, he has been there a week tomorrow and cannot stand without help and must be lifted into a wheelchair to get around. I am hoping that he improves and can gain enough strength to meet the goal. He is scheduled to be discharged on November 4, as that is as long as our insurance will pay for therapy, so time is getting short. In the meantime, I am packing up his belongings and mine as we need to move him downstairs. The move is scheduled for the Friday after our Thanksgiving holiday, a week from tomorrow, so I don't have much time and am trying to prepare for the move and also visit him every day at the rehab hospital. This is the first night I have been able to spend a bit of time at my computer and catch up on bills and correspondence. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he shows improvement and that life can soon get back to some type of normal, but spinal cord injuries are tricky, so how much he will progress is anyone's guess.
