... and in double edition at that! We had cauliflower soup and cauliflower strudel, both of which made Mum very happy, as not only were they tasty but also very soft, which is an important thing for an elderly person with barely any teeth left.

Other than that, it was a really stressful day. We had the monthly visit from our extremely talkative chiropodist lady, and I defrosted the freezer, during which I managed to drop a carton of eggs. That meant I had to soak the rag rug from the kitchen - joy, joy, joy! It's still soaking; in the third water already. Of course, since it leaks colour (it's mostly red; we have lots of red in our kitchen), I can't decide by looking at the water whether it needs further soaking or not. Ah, well, I'll leave it till the morning and then be done with it.

When all this was over, I really needed to take a short nap. Then we watched some telly, after which I worked a tiny bit on my next pencil holder and wrote a surprisingly good chunk on my story (for my circumstances, that is), took another short nap, tried to phone to my friend Evie (no luck), we had supper, watched the Great South-African Bake-Off, and now the day is almost over again. It is shocking how fast the days fly by.

Fortunately, only three of them broke but they caused enough mess even so. And considering what eggs cost in these days...

Sorry you had a bad day. I'd hate to have to clean up raw eggs, ugh. Hope tomorrow turns out better.

Getting eggs out of textile is a real pain.

I don't know about red water, but if I dropped a carton of eggs the air would be pretty blue. I hope your rug recovers.

Oh, the old kitchen rug has been through a lot, it’s used to rough treatment. But I really mourned the nice, large eggs.

Having to clean up raw eggs is a pest. Just today I had to remove the remnants of hubby´s mishap, safely hidden away in the recess of the fridge.

Gosh, that must have been disgusting! At least I can only blame myself (this time), and I got to clean it up while it wasn't dried on yet.
