This misere never ends
Sep. 21st, 2024 07:23 pmMeaning the housework that I hate with the passion of a thousand burning suns, as you all know by now.
I started today with weighing the clothes that needed to be washed carefully (Louise the Elder is small and can't manage more than four kilos a time). Then I filled the washing machine, with the exception of the undies that need to be soaked first, according to Mum. But that's her job.
Then I prepared things for today's cleaning section, aka the living rooms and the two so-called half rooms, one of which is my bedroom and the other one the study/workroom/whatever. This used to be Grandma's room once, and after her death Mum didn't want to move her bedroom there, so I annected the room for my evil purposes. *g*
Anyway, I shook out the carpets, dusted the shelves, etc, all small stuff while Mum could sleep a little bit longer. Then I woke up Mum, helped her with washing, etc., made breakfast, and while she dusted the pianino and some other stuff in the living room, I vacuumed the half-rooms and put them back into proper order. Then Mum moved into my bedroom and I moved on to the living room.
The problem with cleaning in our flat is that the rooms are rather small and the furniture consist of comparatively large pieces. So, 90% of the work is to move around the furniture in order to reach the hidden corners and stuff. It is exhausting and hard on the back, especially as I no longer have any help. *sigh*
All in all, it was about 2pm when I finished the three rooms (having started shortly after 8am). In the meantime Mum filled the undies into the washing machine and I started it, so that by the time I finished the cleaning, I could take out and hang up the freshly washed clothes. Joy, joy!
At least I didn't have to cook together. I've thrown together a salad to the leftovers from yesterday and Mum made carrot soup, which we didn't eat in the end. It will serve well tomorrow, with Topfenknödel as the main dish.
So, as me-time wasn't in abundance again, I did just a tiny bit of crafting (one more lavender sachet finished) and writing. But at least the story is finished now. I'm still in the process of typing up the hand-written stuff, then it will go to my lovely Enterprise beta who declared herself willing to face my grammar, and then hopefully posted to AO3.
Addendum: The finished 3rd chapter is now available on
otherworlds_lib for those who want a sneak peek.
