Got up an hour earlier than usual; went to Lidl to do the first half of the grocery shopping. Our supermarkets bring out the new offers (=price-reduced products) on Thursday, but going on Thursdays is a suicidal effort, so I usually go on Fridays.

Came home, helped Mum with her morning routine, then we went to our café-at-the-corner for our weekly indulgence, aka coffee and croissants. Yum!

We came home, helped Mum change into casual clothes and went to the Savoy Park shopping centre to do the second half of the grocery shopping. Just before I left, the battered phone cable that had been unreliable for weeks finally gave its soul back to its maker.

Therefore, when I came home, I had a long and sometimes frustrating interaction first with the Telecom virtual administrator, then with three different living persons, one of which finally proved helpful and competent. By then I was tearing out my hair, though. She logged my request for a new phone cable and promised that it will be done sometime within 72 hours. So far, so good.

I helped Mum with the cooking - peeling and cutting up raw potatoes is much easier for me than it is for her. The meal was barely done when my mobile phone rang: it was the Telekom technician, asking if it would be okay if he came in 20 minutes or so. Of course I said yes, quite enthusiastically, and he was indeed there if not in 20 but in 30 minutes, so that was fine. He exchanged the cable for a new one (it took him about 40 seconds), and then suggested that we should switch to optic cable, which is much more reliable, and besides, Telekom would stop using the old-fashioned copper cables (like ours) fairly soon.

We said okay, and he logged our request, promising that someone would call us on Monday afternoon. Joy. I wanted to bake on Monday afternoon, since I'll (hopefully) have guests next Saturday (Sept 28). I was so glad to find these Italian biscuit recipes that keep in a cookie tin for two weeks, so I could work in advance. Well, I'll have to bake on Sunday then, as tomorrow the second part of the cleaning ordeal in on schedule. And laundry day. Joy, joy.

After the Telekom guy left, we had our midday meal (at 15:20!), then we watched a bit of telly and I worked a tiny bit on my second lavender sachet. Not even close to finishing it, but I wanted to do at least a little something for myself. Or rather for the fair. Anyway. We then both took a nap, but first I wrote a few lines of dialogue for the almost finished last chapter that won't be finished any time soon by this speed. *sigh*

And now the day is basically over again. And Mum wonders why I am so run down all the time.

Well, yes, I've failed to secure that option. ;))
(Not that I ever wanted, mind you...)

You will love optic cable, we have it and have not had an outage since.
