First and foremost: writing

1) I've finished Chapter 3 of the extremely AU "Shuttlepod One" story; by the way it looks, it will be complete with only one more chapter (or so I hope).
2) I've typed up the completed Chapter 2, which can be read here. For the time being I've decided to post the story to [livejournal.com profile] otherworlds_lib; I'll put it up to AO3 later, but I hope I might talk my old "Enterprise" beta to take a look at it first.

Secondly: crafting

I've been working on Card #29, with a great many setbacks. These patterns that work with vectors are a "wonderful" source of stupid mistakes because it's very easy to go in the wrong direction if one is distracted, and my life is such that I get distracted at every 5 minutes. But I've finished the two little silver bells, and will now work on the pine tree branch from which they are hanging. The original pattern didn't have the branch, just the pair of bells, but I found it too bland I decided to improve the design. The results are... interesting, to put it mildly, and bloody hard to get right, but we'll see.

Other than that, it was a quiet day. We did the weekly laundry, ate leftovers and took naps. Right now it's 12-14 degrees outside but up to 23 degrees inside, thanks to the insulation work that got done 3 years ago. It robbed me of my satellite TV, but at least we've got reasonable temperatures when it's cold outside. Tomorrow I'll make something in the oven to improve environmental conditions. *g*

Yep. I have been timing my laundry drying, so that the tumble drier heats the living room/kitchen

Those are the little tricks to keep warm. Or to save energy, in your case. We have to wait until the heating centre deigns to start heating. Obviously, nine degrees at night and twelwe at daytime aren’t low enough as temperatures go.
