Today was hard
Aug. 31st, 2024 09:09 pmI had to get up at 6.30am to get the grocery shopping done while it wasn't quite as hot yet. I left at 21 degrees and got home less than an hour later at 26 - which doesn't sound much, but hauling the shopping bags home while the sun burned in my back was no fun.
Then it was Mum's shower day, which is a relief in hot weather, because I get wet from head to toe when she's taking a shower. So, basically, I had two showers within as many hours! ;))
We also had laundry day, and while poor Louise is doing her best, it's always a nervous guesswork whether she'd be willing to start or not. We're trying to hold tight to her, but it's just a matter of time...
No cooking today, but I had to process the carrots that were on offer at Lidl; I grated half of them, which was a torture by 34 degrees, since we don't have a food processor, so I had to do it by hand. The other half got chopped and both parts frozen. The grated part will go into a carrot and hazelnut cake when my friends (hopefully) will come to a small party around the end of the month.
Other than that, we were basically dead (Mum did two rounds of washing-up and made breadcrumbs from some old rolls) and took nice, long naps. I got a bit of writing done, for which I'm grateful. Tomorrow promises to be awfully hot again, but at least I won't have to leave the house. Thank God for small blessings.
*Speaking of writing: I've been reading a long and fairly interesting Enterprise fanfic in the last two days, but the atrocious grammar killed most of the enjoyment. How come that my stories get torn apart for a single typo in 15 chapters, but the so-called native speakers don't seem to be able to make a difference between "there" and "their" and even "they're", or "your" and "you're" and all the similar stuff?
