Today is Grandma's birthday

She'd be 124 today - if we were Vulcans. Since we are not, she's left us back in 1996, at the age of 96. Yes, she was born in 1900; that always made keeping track of her age so easy.

Here is my latest embroidered card. Originally, I wanted to wait and make a group photo with the Baby Jesus one, but considering that I didn't have the time to make as much as a single stich in recent days, I decided to post this one on its own.



There are some mistakes in the pattern; fortunately, they aren't visible, unless one knows the original. The card base is actually a much paler colour, but it looked simply grey on the photo, so I doctored it a bit and ended up with this light purple. I think it looks good enough. The sequin flowers in the four corners are all the same colour, but they turned out different on the photo, depending on the angle the light fell on them. Ah, well.

Today I finished the endless cleaning project; it was hard. The living room is always the worst, we have so many large pieces of furniture that have to be moved, so that I can vacuum the wall-to-wall carpet everywhere. But at least I'm done for the next fortnight.

There was no need to cook. We had leftovers. So I could take two very nice naps during the day and even got some writing done. All in all, I'm satisfied with today's accomplishments, even though I'm really, really tired. We had 34 degrees again - it just never ends. :(

They promise the same weather for the first week of September, so autumn won't bring any relief. :(

Yipes. I can't imagine going through all that every two weeks. Your mum would be horrified at the state of my house.

Well, I'm not that enthusiastic myself. If the flat wasn't so unnecessarily crowded it would be so much easier, but Mum has a hard time letting go of things that have a meaning for her.

I think I'd go mad pretty soon when having to do such stitching, but it looks awesome!

I know it sounds insane but I actually find paper embroidery relaxing. If only I had a single place in the flat where the light came from the left, so that I could see what I'm doing!
