A trip to the outskirts of the town
Jul. 29th, 2024 08:24 pmWe do live in one of the outer districts, but if you think we actually live on the outskirts of this huge conglomeratum called the Hungarian capital, you'd be wrong. In fact, there is another (rather huge) district beyond ours, and that's where I went today - because their shopping centre has one of the very few newsagents that keeps German crossword puzzle books. Alas, not the handy A5 format but ones that are huge like bedlinens, but at least they do have them.
Now, I don't really like shopping centres. The Savoy Park one is that I can handle, with its only two rows of shops and some independent ones on the other side of the road. The Campona one, where I was today, is several sizes too big for me (although still not as bad as Westend City Center that has actual streets inside). So, I was accordingly exhausted after having visited a mere three or four shops (like Tedi, Pepco, Deichmann and Kik).
Of course, frustration might have played a role, as I was once again unsuccessfully looking for shoes I could squeeze my feet into and for light and simple summer dresses. Why can't one find loose and comfortable summer dresses? I wish I could sew anything bigger than a plushie, so that I could follow
elwenlj's example and make my clothes myself. *grrrrrrrrrrrr*
On my way home I paid Lidl a visit (and promptly forgot one of the main things I needed to buy because I misplaced my shopping list and never found it again), and after presenting Mum my haul we both decided to take a nap. Well, we watched The Repair Shop first, which is always a delight.
At least I didn't have to cook today, thanks to leftovers. I worked a tiny bit on my next embroidered card and pre-prickled three more, just so that I had something in reserve and wrote a tiny bit to honour
picowrimo, but I was too drained to do much TBH.
But tomorrow's gonna be fun! H. called that her kids and grandkids are on vacation, so she's free to visit us. Yay!

Date: 2024-07-30 05:39 pm (UTC)Not a fan of those giant shopping centres, not that we have any where I live. But I vividly remember our visits to the states, when I gave up shopping after the first hour and sat in a coffee shop, waiting for the rest of the famil to return.

Date: 2024-08-05 04:12 pm (UTC)I hate large shopping centers, they wear me out and are filled mostly with shops I am not interested in, or else are arranged like a maze so I spend most of my time walking in circles. I, also, am on the hunt for loose summer dresses, but good ones are truly rare. Such a shame. Hope you have a good time tomorrow with your friends.
