I woke up shortly before 5am and couldn't fall asleep again, no matter what I tried. So at 5.10 I accepted the inevitable, got up and attacked the second (much larger) part of packing. It was "only" 27°C at that time, so I was done with everything by 6.30. Admittedly, I hurried as much as humanly possible to finish the work before temperatures would hit the 30s.

After that, I took a shower, pulled over the thinnest piece of clothing I own and hopped over to Lidl to stock up on ice-cream and alcohol free Radler. By 8am I was home again, packed away the food I had bought, grated the potatoes I had boiled last night and put together the Rösti dough (is that even dough?) for later. I also made a salad of cucumbers, tomatoes and mozzarella instead of the squash thingy for lunch.

Then Mum got up, had her shower, after which I rearranged the bathroom to its usual configuration and did a tiny bit of writing while Mum rested some more.

Then we watched the usual things on telly and had brunch during it; after 2pm I made the Rösti and we had lunch while watching some more telly. Instead of coffee, which seemed way too hot by 35°C, we had coffee-flavoured ice-cream; Lidl has an excellent one. After that we collapsed on our respective beds again, Mum dozing, I playing Solitaire and reading some fanfic, until it was time for some Great Australian Bake-Off. That ended around 8pm, by which time the day was basically over.

By way of social life H. sent some pictures of the grandkids via Viber and my young friend Alex sent a text message; she is not having a good time, the poor thing - still unable to speak due to some dental surgery, illness in the family and things like that. The photos I'll have to mail to myself, so that Mum would be able to see them on the tablet, as the screen of the new phone is still too small for her. I wish people would consider that, but no such luck. At least H. is the only one of the extended family who still gives a shit whether we're alive or not.

Is it supposed to stay hot where you are?
Here the temperatures are still up and down, today it was actually nice after a big storm last night.

Yes, it will be the thirties up to Saturday; and again after Saturday. I hate it.

Thanks, but be careful with the hugs — I am a sweaty mess beyond measure. 😓

We actually have some sunshine here, today. It's still only eighteen degrees so far, but I'm so happy. Thirty five degrees is deadly! Literally. We have a heat advisory out for a few days from now, when night time temperatures are due to be in the low twenties. I cannot imagine thirty plus degrees.

I wish I couldn't imagine them, either. But they are fairly common over here, to my dismay.

My sympathies for the summer you have! Here, not that far away, we have a steady up and down of temperatures. And because it´s more cool than warm, we now get a warning of moderate heat, when temperatures go up to 25. It´s getting ridiculous!

That is ridiculous indeed. I'd welcome 25°C with open arms and on my knees in gratitude.
