A life in semi-darkness
Jun. 30th, 2024 07:43 pmWe had 35°C today, and all our windows look to southwest. Therefore the only way to survive is to pull the blinds down as early as 10am and spend the rest of the day in not-so-romantic semi-darkness. Or switch the lamps on.
Today we had lamplight, as Mum wanted to do the book-keeping. I used the opportunity to finish one pot holder while she was doing that. Only three more to do, and this particular project will be over, too, having repurposed some 80% of her favourite dress. Well, calling it a dress was probably exaggerated: it was a tunic, made of the stuff usually t-shirts are made, and thus hell to work with, as the fabric tends to go out of shape if you sew it by hand. But Mum has liked the so far 4 pot holders I've made, so it's worth it.
Nothing else got done. We chose not to cook anything; had coffee and chips and ice cream for lunch and warmed up some leftover soup for a late dinner with a sandwich. The early afternoon was the worst, temperature-wise, so we both had a nap to survive.
Weather forecast promises a serious drop of temperatures overnight. I just hope it doesn't mean a bad storm. I'm so fed up with getting anxious about the balcony.

Date: 2024-06-30 08:09 pm (UTC)Fruit salad is okay, but I rather eat them just as they are, without bothering with making salad.

Contrary to doing the Tour de France, those people must be insane!
