Catching up with yesterday's events
Jun. 19th, 2024 08:03 pmLast night I got home somewhat late, and as I had to go out when it was 33°C, I really wasn't up to the challenge to update yesterday's entry. So, here's the additional news - as today was fairly uneventful, at least it gives me something to write about.
So, we had our farewell dinner with the choir last evening. We do this every year when the term is over, and since this year it was in a pub fairly close to home, I could even participate. When they choose a restaurant on the other end of the city I usually decline; I don't want to leave Mum alone for several hours, just to eat overpriced food in some fancy place.
In any case, I went this time and had excellent fish & chips that were listed as a small snack before a right meal. The fun part is: my portion was actually larger than the ones that counted as a "proper" meal. I liked it a lot. *g*
One of our choirmates, Ani, lives in a rural village halfway between the capital and Lake Balaton since her retirement, and she brought each of us a bouquet of lavender flowers as a gift, from her own garden. Monica, our choir leader gave me hers, too, since she also has lavender in her garden. So now I have enough filling material for several more little sachets, which is great. The balcony smells wonderfully of the drying flowers, and so do my fingers, after having processed them.
Otherwise we are trying to survive the heat. In the morning we went out for a very short walk, just to give Mum some fresh air, but other than that we are hocking in the darkened flat. It's been 33°C again, although temperatures have gone down a bit by now.
I've made another lavender sachet and cooked Erbsengemüse and cherry compote for lunch, but those were the only activities I could manage. And reading fanfic.
