Tonight there was a thunderstorm with lots of rain, and it was still raining a little in the morning. The air is horribly damp. At least the skies have cleared up by the late afternoon, so I risked to take Louise to my friend Erna at school. We studied the user's manual for a while and re-did the threading; apparently, I had made a mistake with that previously. So, Louise was intimidated into cooperation - now if only I could learn the high art of sewing in a straight line! (Fat chance of that!)

On my way home it started raining again. Fortunately, I had mistrusted the weather and packed Louise in several layers of plastic, so nothing bad happened to her. I did a bit more sewing (by hand), then collapsed on the bed, reading fanfic and playing Solitaire. We ate leftovers, but tomorrow there will be proper cooking. I bought mushrooms on the way home, so it will be a hobbity meal:

Not really a surprise; I usually cook this when there are mushrooms available, only with chicken breast instead of pork. Partly because we prefer chicken and partly because mushrooms are so unreasonably expensive that I only ever buy a few of them - six, as a rule. But from six mushrooms and half a chicken breast I can make a dish that lasts for two days for us.

Strangely mushrooms are quite cheap here. Even shiitake and enoki mushrooms. Only penny buns are high in price. But those I buy desiccated.

Over here, even simple champignons are outrageously expensive. Don't even let me start on Pfifferlinge!

I love mushrooms. They're one of my favorite vegetables, in fact I think I'll cook some for dinner tonight with a lamb chop and some potatoes.

I quite like them, too. I always suspected that there was a hobbit somewhere up the family line. *g*

Just about anything made with mushrooms is a win with me. I don't think they're that expensive here, though. I shall be making a slow cooker casserole with a chicken breast today as well, and mine will also feed me for several days. It's surprising how far you can make one chicken breast go, when mixed with veggies.

Mushroom prices are very reasonable here. Your dish sounds delicious.
