Although it was a busy day, too. We got up an hour earlier again, so that Mum could attend to Mass via telly. During that I baked cheesy scones. Those are the only baked items Mum never says no to, so I make them quite often because she needs to put on some weight. She won't, it seems, but at least she eats them happily. :)

I used the 50 or so minutes before breakfast to get some writing done. Not much, but it moved the plot to the place I wanted it to get to, so I'm content with my progress, small though it might be.

After breakfast we went for a walk again, just in case the weather would decide to turn bad later. It did not which meant I had to put the asparagus quiche into the oven while it was already quite warm. Ah, well, I survived, despite the fact that my shortcut dough was being obnoxious. I made it the same way as ever, and most of the time it is nice and smooth and obedient, but there are times (like today) when it breaks and peels off and whatnot. So I had to use brutal force to press it into the tin. It turned out well in the end, so it was worth the effort.

After lunch I forced myself to work a bit on the baby book. I made exactly one card for the last finished page and added some embellishments. The pages seem to grow simpler the closer the headline comes, but it still looks nice, I think.

By then it was half past four,so I decided to lie down and play some Solitaire on Methuselah-the-laptop. After less than an hour I had to admit that I don't even see what's going on in the screen, so I put Methuselah away and decided to have a nap... of which I was rudely awaken a mere 15 minutes later by the phone. One of Mum's friends wanted to alert her to some political programme on the TV.

As Queen Victoria would say, I was NOT amused!

So, that was today in a nutshell. It was a productive day, but I'm deadly tired again, which is annoying. Being tired all the time is boring!

I tried to have a nap in the afternoon as well but was rudely woken up by noise in one of the gardens. Gah!

Interesting coincidence! I've also just acquired a Smartphone. I tried one, years ago, and it was a disaster, but they are now much easier to use. I haven't quite got there yet, but I can at least swipe and use the keyboard

I hope to learn how to use at least some of the functions, soon. I want to be able to make video calls, so that Mum can see the extended family β€” if only on screen.

I'm still trying to post a photograph of the lily β€” I was doing fine a couple of days ago, but it won't do it now

15 minutes naps is just closing your eyes and opening them again before the good part starts :/

You're doing a lot of napping. Are you getting enough vitamins etc? Then, again, high temperatures can make one lethargic.

I simply don't get enough sleep. Once I could live on 5-6 hours per night, but not anymore. If I don't get my 7 hours at night, I have to get the rest in the afternoon... at which time I am usually run down anyway. I haven't had a day off for nearly four years, and it shows.

You have reminded me that, in the middle of the baking, I must make some cheese scones as they are the favourite of a lady at church who is recovering from a stroke. She must be well into her eighties as she was my form teacher when i first went to secondary school, aged 11!

I find shortcrust misbehaves when the weather is warm β€” my mother used to keep the water in her fridge for a few hours to make it in the summer, which does help a bit.

My recipe uses an egg instead of water β€” and that came directly from the fridge! *sigh*
Ah, well, there is a reason why they say baking isn't science but art.

A fifteen minute nap is enough, this hubby preaches every day, when I wonΒ΄t come down from the bedroom. He really sticks to this rule- before I even have found the right position to nap away, he is already up and running again.

Asparagus quiche sounds heavenly β€” yum. Glad to see you were able to get a bit of writing done. Too bad about your nap, so frustrating.
