Today I had to get up an hour earlier, so that I'd have the time to:
- prepare the weekly laundry,
- assist Mum with her weekly shower (we had to postpone it from Friday because there was the possibility of the techie to come),
- do the grocery shopping,
- start the washing machine,
- make breakfast,
- peel a pound of very thin asparagus (because the season is almost over and the nice, thick ones are no longer available),
- pre-cook aforementioned asparagus for tomorrow's quiche,
- empty the washing machine after it has run its cycle,
- hang up the washing,
- and to put together some leftovers for lunch.

In exchange, I got to:
- take out Mum for a walk,
- take a nice, long nap,
- talk to two friends on the phone.

However, I did not get to:
- do any crafting,
- or any writing.

I sincerely hope that tomorrow the relations will be the other way round.

It is an unfortunate reality that by the time you got everything done and would have time for fun things, there is no time left.

Not over here, it seems. The really nice ones have vanished a week ago or so. *is disappointed*

It can be hard on the wrist, even with these handy peelers you can get nowadays. Yesterday it wasn't too bad, I only had to peel half a kilo. But after a full kilogram I always have the feeling that I'm developing asparagus arm. Which is roughly the same as tennis arm, just for simple folk that doesn't have time and money for expensive hobbies like tennis. So we have asparagus instead. *g*

I wonder if our asparagus comes ready peeled into the shop?
The stems can sometimes be a little thick, but I've never heard of peeling it.

You don't need to peel green asparagus. Just the white ones, and since we prefer those, we need to peel them.
Also, asparagus can't be ready peeled because it would dry out within hours, and then you could throw it out, I think. But I might be mistaken. In any case, I never seen them ready peeled — only the tinned version sometimes, but those have a funny aftertaste, so I avoid them like the plague.

It doesn't sound like too bad a day. I hope you manage to fit in some crafting today.

Actually, it was a very hard day, especially the morning. When Mum takes a shower, I basically have to empty out the bathroom, firstly because she can't walk into the bathtub otherwise and secondly because she manages to flood the whole bath every time. After that I had to put everything back to place, and then carry off the things that usually are stored on top of the washing machine, so that I could open it in the first place. It opens on the top because that was the only model small enough that would fit into our tiny bath.

Grocery shopping wasn't for weaklings, either. I had to fill up our reserves in mineral water and ginger ale, and even though I shoved the shopping car home from the supermarket, I had to haul all those 6x1.5 l packs up the 12 steps we have to climb to reach the lift in the first place, and I'm not as strong as I used to be when I was shiny new and enthusiastic. *insert wry grin*

By the time I gave up on everything else for a nap, I was close to falling over.

I wondered about peeling asparagus. We only get green ones here, which we cut the hard bottoms off before washing and cooking. I've only seen pictures of cooked white asparagus.
