Congratulations and a new gadget
May. 24th, 2024 07:19 pmFirst and foremost: Happy Birthday, dear
sallymn! I hope sis baked you a yummy cake for your big day. But here is a virtual one anyway:

In completely unrelated news, I've finally bought my first smartphone today. So far, I'm totally illiterate where the using of it is concerned, but I've managed to save a total of two phone numbers and made a snapshot of Mum (catching her in a very unflattering angle, so the pic will never see cyberspace), and that should be enough for a beginning. I'll visit Erna at school next week again and we'll try to figure out more functions, download some apps and the likes.
As we got up fairly early because we expected the techie to come, we were done in by the time he cancelled (they found the problem with the junction in the house, so he didn't have to actually come), we took a nice, long nap in the morning. After which I renewed my contract with Vodafone, resulting in the joyous fact that I could finally have the phone option, which we never used, removed - after a decade or so. Now I'll have to pay less, which is lovely, isn't it?
The afternoon was spent with the task of acquiring the smartphone, with the selfless assistance of Erna, without whom I'd never have managed to do it. She has such a nice, calm, unassuming art that makes salespeople actually want to be helpful; I'm just fretting around every time I have to do something I deem important. Coming home, we had a very late lunch and I basically collapsed with a small portion of caramel ice cream. Ice cream is balm for the weary soul.
Tomorrow promises to be fairly busy again, but only with simple, everyday activities that I'm used to and can manage. Who'd have thought that grocery shopping and cooking could be considered relaxing? Especially knowing how much I hate cooking...

Date: 2024-05-27 06:00 pm (UTC)I got one a smartphone awhile back, it grew on me. It really is not that hard to use once you get used to it.
