Well, not really, but the fact is, I actually brought some clothes - for the first time in over a year or so. Nothing extraordinary, just some summer tunics (fortunately for me, Kik offers oversized stuff) with elbow-length sleeves. In my age it's an advantage when the soggy upper arm muscles are well hidden. *g*

Consequently, tomorrow will be the big wardrobe decluttering. My wardrobe has been a mess for at least two years; it's a built-in one, originally designed for basketball players, I think, as I can barely reach the lowest shelf of the upper one (the lower one is for hanging clothes), therefore I've been just throwing in or slapping upward things in all that time. Tomorrow I'll break out the ladder (I can climb it as long as I hold on with one hand for dear life; and it only has four steps anyway), take everything down from the two lower shelves (the third one is for things we rarely need like bedclothes) and go through my stuff with grim determination. Everything that doesn't fit anymore, that was ill-fitting to begin with, that has become too threadbare or faded in colour or that I got as a well-meant but unfitting gift will have to go.

Imagine how much place will be freed up for my three brand new tunics! Also, I'll get to rearrange the shelves for summer use. That is, the warm winter clothes will go higher and the light summer ones will come down for easy(er) reach. Yay!

Aside from the big clothes orgy, I went to the post office, to the bank, to Tedi for craft supplies (that I didn't really need) and to three different supermarket to fill up the near-empty fridge for the long weekend when the shops will be closed. I don't want to enter the battle for food fought by Hungarian in fear of starving on Saturday!

All this action exhausted me pretty much. Fortunately, we had leftovers, and I found the time for a power nap, so I'm looking vaguely human again. *g* I had a few nice phone calls, too, so all in all, this was a successful day.

I sorted clothes last week and in the end it was more than anticipated. But it's nice to have some more space..

That is the basic idea, yes.

Hurrah for new clothes — and there is something cathartic about getting rid of things you don't wear any more :)

Yeah, well, it isn't so as if I had anyone else to run them...

At five foot nine, I have always considered myself very lucky. I can reach most shelves. That said, I have a couple of storage boxes on top of my wardrobes, that I have to use the steps to reach. I sympathise with your terrors.

Getting old is not for weaklings. Thirty years ago I climbed onto the 2-metre-ladder fairly easily...

Isn't it deeply unfair?

At least you found something that fits. Everything in the stores here seems like it is made for 20 year olds and under. IF I do find something I like, I try and buy more than one. That way, I actually have something to wear for a change.
