... which once counted as the day of work officially - or the day of St Joseph the handyman, respectively. It was a fitting way therefore to celebrate it - with work! Mostly with crafting, admittedly, but I also helped Mum wash her hair and cooked for two days, which definitely counts as work in my book.

As for the crafty part, I've finished Page 3 of the baby book. Here you can see both the closed and the open versions:

The colours do look a bit different than before, even though I used the same paper pad; perhaps the illumination was different, I don't know. I also managed to glue on the "Milestones" tag on the back of the card instead of the front, so that the text within is now upside down, but I'll pretend that it's an artistic step and not my stupid mistake. ;))

In the terms of further crafting I started with the little teddy bear key rings for the Christmas fair by using thin straps of felt I couldn't otherwise use to make the hangings of the actual key rings. Twelve down, eight more to go. I know it's ridiculously early for Christmassy stuff, but these are the small, easy - and utterly boring - parts that I like to have out of my hair in advance. Besides, my fingers are still too kaputt for working on the songbook, so I needed something light for them to do.

For those who don't remember, we are talking about these cuties here.

Cooking-wise I made Sauerbraten for dummies today: the drastically simplified version I learned from the once-popular TV show Kochduell. After a late lunch we went for a walk with Mum; then we took a nap, and the afternoon was basically over.

Better start early than late ... you have all the baking to do before Xmas! 😁

Simplified version of Sauerbraten?

I'll try to find the recipe for you. I ought to have somewhere in my HD, although I usually cook it from the top of my head.

People here celebrate by the use of alcohol. Some of them cannot even spell the word work.

Back in the olden days it was a great Voksfest over here. I liked it very much. There are still attempts at it in these times, but too much politics are mixed in for my taste.

Those are really pretty. I think it is really sensible to start Christmas stuff now. In fact I have started knitting a jumper for D-d's Christmas present :)

Yes, it is best if we have enough time for Christmas stuff. These little teddy bear keyrings are finicky work, and I'll also have to decorate the medium-sized matchboxes in which they'll come, so it's lots and lots of fiddly, time-consuming work. But I can do most of it in front of the telly, so that's good. *g*

Love the book pages! Can't believe you are already starting Christmas crafting, lol.

Good news here, my son will graduate from Law school on May 18 - yay. He already has a job with a local law firm, worked there part time through this last semester, but is now on break to study for his finals and the Bar exam which comes up in July.

Congratulations and fingers crossed that the exams all go well!

As for Christmas crafting, these items are really small and need a lot of finicky work, so I'll need time to get all 20 of them — and their boxes — done in time.

That sounds like a productive day, doing things for yourself, instead of shopping and cleaning. May there be many more.
