... often go down the river. Either because the passion for one thing or the other is stronger, or because Real Life interferes.

As you all know, I decided not to make more jam for a while. So, what did I do today, after having done the long-overdue food run? Right: strawberry and spicy apple jam. Mum laughed her head off but approved of the apple jam very much. I put ginger, cinnamon, maple syrup and raisins into it - it looks great, it tastes great, let's hope it will set well, too.

The other good intention was to go and apply for my new ID card, since the old one runs out within one month. But Mum was getting her pension today, and the postwoman didn't come until 11.30, after which I didn't feel like facing bureaucracy anymore. So I made jam instead. Tomorrow is another day, and tomorrow I'll appear at their office right when they open it - and hope they won't tell me that I'm assigned to a different one that's complicated to reach and is full of people. *fingers crossed*

I met my neighbour the IT guy in the morning and he promised to look into renewing my antivirus programme that's running out in ten days' time. Where have those two years gone? He also promised to look up some new tablet for me, so I'm tentatively hopeful.

Due to the jam madness, not much else was done today. But we had leftovers (still have for about two days), so at least no cooking was required... save for peeling, pre-cooking and freezing some asparagus, that is.

Thanks. I'll need it. Fighting bureaucracy is always hard.

Maybe you could include a little jar of jam with your Christmas cookie gifts this year.

Oh, I did that last year already. My orange and grapefruit jam was very popular!

Strawberries are cheap at the moment. That will quickly change, when the local ones will arrive in the shops!

True. But at least I've made jam of the somewhat cheaper imported ones (one has to cook them anyway) and we can eat the local ones right away when they show up. ;)
