... was what I made today. The list consists of 14 jars of apricot jam, 10 jars of strawberry jam, 3 big jars of plum jam, 4 (rather small) jars of red currant jam, 1 big jar of the grapefruit not-quite jam with the crystalized ginger and 3 small jars of sweet orange jam. Therefore I won't be making jam out of 3 kilos of strawberries as originally planned. I'm still planning to buy some strawberries, as they'll be on offer at Lidl, but I'm not sure I'll be making jam of them.

Or that I'll be making apricot jam at all this year. Perhaps I'll experiment with other fruits, like peaches and apples and perhaps sour cherries. I'd love to make raspberry jam, but raspberries are so insanely expensive, I'll be better off if I simply buy a jar when I need some. Too bad, I rather love making jam. Ah, well.

In other news I've finished pot holder #3; that means I only have one more to make. This one will be the rather large, two-handed kind one can see used in the GBBO, just because the last piece of fabric is better suited for one of those. Mum and I laughed that my pot holders are getting increasingly larger, but at least I've used up most of the shreds of her murdered gown.

No cooking today; we had leftover asparagus with new potatoes and the last rest of the caramel ice cream. I also took a nice, long nap in the afternoon, so I'm feeling almost human again.

That's a lot of jam for two people! 😀

True. But I often use jam in my baking; and I frequently give away some of it as gifts.

Too bad raspberries cost so much. Do they not grow well around there?

Could you freeze the strawberries, then use them to make deserts?

As I mentioned above, a lot of it is used for baking.

Peach jam is my favourite one! But even with so many boys loving jam, there´s always some glasses which will make it into another year!

They do. Not at the moment, more like in May, but they are every bit as expensive if you buy the home-grown ones later as are the imported ones now. In fact, the home-grown ones cost more. I don't know why.

They get disgustingly soggy when freezed an thawed out again.

Don't they just! I still have about 750gm in my freezer and I really must make some jam in the microwave with them.

I'm considering making jam of frozen raspberries, too. They are considerably cheaper than fresh ones — or the jam you can buy. And besides, I prefer my own jam, that way at least I can be sure what's in it!

I never thaw out frozen raspberries — I ate them frozen, instead of ice cream! *g*

I've never made peach jam before. It's time for new things, I guess.
