Inventory of the preserved goods
Apr. 24th, 2024 07:22 pm... was what I made today. The list consists of 14 jars of apricot jam, 10 jars of strawberry jam, 3 big jars of plum jam, 4 (rather small) jars of red currant jam, 1 big jar of the grapefruit not-quite jam with the crystalized ginger and 3 small jars of sweet orange jam. Therefore I won't be making jam out of 3 kilos of strawberries as originally planned. I'm still planning to buy some strawberries, as they'll be on offer at Lidl, but I'm not sure I'll be making jam of them.
Or that I'll be making apricot jam at all this year. Perhaps I'll experiment with other fruits, like peaches and apples and perhaps sour cherries. I'd love to make raspberry jam, but raspberries are so insanely expensive, I'll be better off if I simply buy a jar when I need some. Too bad, I rather love making jam. Ah, well.
In other news I've finished pot holder #3; that means I only have one more to make. This one will be the rather large, two-handed kind one can see used in the GBBO, just because the last piece of fabric is better suited for one of those. Mum and I laughed that my pot holders are getting increasingly larger, but at least I've used up most of the shreds of her murdered gown.
No cooking today; we had leftover asparagus with new potatoes and the last rest of the caramel ice cream. I also took a nice, long nap in the afternoon, so I'm feeling almost human again.
