Deliveries

I've delivered the cookie boxes to four of my recipients. Another two will come tomorrow or later in the week to fetch theirs personally. I've also distributed some tiny, hand-made Easter bunnies like these - only that mine have bow ties and are sitting on a green patch, with a chocolate egg in a basket and a felt flower next to them. I must have a picture somewhere but I can't find it at the moment - will post it if it shows up unexpectedly.

In the morning I went to the bank, and to the Auchan supermarket. My insurance is now paid for the next year, and I've stocked up on hand creme, body lotion, talcum powder and other things we were running low on. Don't laugh! We do use a lot of talcum powder to prevent sweet-induced sores!

In the evening we had choir practice (during which aforementioned cookie delivery took place). It wasn't much fun today, partly because the choir was practicing for a gig I cannot go to (can't leave Mum alone for half a day) and partly because the coir leader was fretting about the samesome gig half the time. It is one where the children's choir is supposed to participate, too, but so far 15 kids have cancelled... that is, the parents have, arguing that it would be too much for the poor dears - eight of whom won't be too tired to go to a birthday party at the same time. In my childhood, it was natural that such parties would be postponed when the choir had a gig. Times change... and not for the better.

Tomorrow I won't have to cook, since we still have some of the Shepherd's Pie left, so I might cook my Kümmelschinken in advance while I have nothing else urgent to do.

The recipe for the German speakers among us:

And now I'm tired and feel lazy and decided to call it a day - until the GBBO re-runs come, that is. *g*

When I was young my friends had the same intetests I had. So no parties when choir or orchestra practice!

That's so frustrating when the commitment to the choir is no longer a priority. I mean, if the family knows it will creat a schedule conflict for a lot of people, and do it anyway, that's too bad.
I can understand an occasional unavoidable conflict of dates, but in this case, it sounds like choir is not held in priority, and that's too bad, it hurts the choir's performance:(

Today's younger generations(s) don't seem to understand that a community one belongs to ought to have priority in many things. :(

I imagine it feels good to get your kitchen space back once the cookies are gone. Parents not bringing their children to planned events was the bane of my life when I ran a cub scout pack. We would be asked to produce something for an event, I would send out notes to parents, we would rehearse for weeks, then half the boys simply didn't turn up on the day. Most of the time parents didn't even give an excuse.

People are so concerned about their so-called rights that they forget to consider that they have duties, too — at least in theory.

Times change... and not for the better.

I agree. My pet annoyance is that all the sports involving children now have either training or matches on Sunday mornings...

That is really bad indeed. Not only because it probably clashes with church activities — families ought to have undisturbed breakfast together, too, at least once a week.

We lose whole families from church — one child now has swimming at 11.00am on Suday and mum takes him, which means she can't bring the others to church, and Dad has rugby on Sundays... and so on.
