Well, the jumping flea idea didn't work out. I've nearly ruined the entire windmill page while trying to insert eyelets with a tool that wasn't good for it. So I've sewn on the flea firmly, after all. Too bad, but at least the sails of the windmill can be turned around. And the sacks of wheat can be loaded into the cart, too. Ah, well.

On other "news", we had a visit from the talkative chiropodist lady, which lasted all morning and exhausted us completely. How someone can talk for hours without stopping is beyond me. Each time she's here, she leaves us brain dead. The positive aspect of her visit is, though, that she took with her the 3-legged, round breakfast table our conductor gifted upon Mum as a belated Christmas present. It was well meant - just completely unusable as a breakfast table. Mum valiantly gave it a try... it lasted about four minutes. Now it will serve as a platform for a big potted plant somewhere else. I just don't know how to tell Monica what happened with her present. *ducks*

I've made Grießnockerlsuppe aus der Tüte for lunch, as well as Topfenknödel with the not-quite jam I had made from pink grapefruits before Christmas. It still hasn't set (the not-jam, I mean), but it is yummy, so that's okay. Tomorrow I'll have the big grocery shopping cruise, so I'll have to come up with something quick and easy to cook... I just don't have a clue what that should be. Cooking is such a nuisance, especially deciding what one ought to cook. But I'll make a date and walnut bread for the weekend, now that the Christmas cookies are all gone.

Oh, we haven't eaten the whole thing! It's the second course I'll have to come up with.

Oh dear, someone who won't stop talking can be so hard to deal with...

That is very true. Each time she pays us a visit, Mum and I are both useless for the rest of the day. :(

See, the talking is the reason why I can't cope with my former student too often...

I can certainly understand that. Our neighbour is the same, and we expect a visit from her somewhen during the weekend. What's worse, she's also very loud when excited... which is basically all the time. *sigh*

If Monica doesn't mention the table, just act innocent. Otherwise, tell her you put it in Mum's bedroom. She's not likely to ask to go in there.

Cooking is definitely nuisance. Unfortunately, ready meals are full of salt and sugar, not to mention being expensive. So we have to resort to cooking.

The problem is, Mum doesn't have a bedroom. She sleeps in the living room; has done so ever since we moved into this flat, back in 1977, since Grandma and I had the two bedrooms. After Grandma died, Mum decided to remain in the living room, and so it is that I have a study/craft room now.

My problem with ready meals is that I have to find a brand yet that would taste good. (Plus the expensive part, of course.) I am very choosy with my meals; I like fairly few things, and my requirements are rather specific. Like very little fat, no olive oil, onions and peppers give me a tummy ache and so on.

Sorry the jumping flea did not work, but the page itself sounds fun. I have a friend who also talks a lot, cannot get a word in edgewise. Really drives you crazy.
