The fridge was empty, so I went to the supermarkets today. Bought rather more than originally planned, so I only made two rounds. Auchan and the pharmacy just will have to wait. Various food items were reduced in price, so I've stocked up on them. Well, as far as our limited storage space allowed it.

I had to cook today, after all, as I had bought mushrooms and they go bad so quickly. So, tomorrow (and the day after) we'll have a dish of chicken breast stripes and mushrooms in a sauce, with pasta. Tomorrow I'll also have to dismantle and pre-cook the broccoli I've bought. Some of it will go into the freezer, in small portions, and I'll also cook broccoli cream soup tomorrow.

Have I mentioned before that I actually don't like cooking?

As for other, non-slavish activities, I've worked a bit on the songbook. Not as much as I had originally planned (which had been little enough to begin with), but at least some progress has been made. Tomorrow is another day.

I also talked on the phone to Evie and Eenie, respectively. It appears that choir practice will restart on Tuesday. In which case I'll take the leftover Christmas cookies with me and feed them to my choir-mates. *g*

Our cookie stash has finally dwindled, and since I started late with baking, this rest is still in a good shape. Tomorrow grandchildren and daughter will loot the boxes, then there's Epiphany with two guests coming, and we will be mostly through with the cookie sortiment. BTW, I came up to fourteen sorts, that's quite a lot for a "I don't like baking" baker!
You are so right, the shops are selling lots of things to a reduced price, which people did not buy for the Holidays. That's what you get, when you try to sell your ware overpriced! Now I have blue Stilton at half the price and lots of other goodies, which will expire in February only. By then they will be long dead aka eaten!

Fourteen sorts are quite a lot indeed!
Some of the leftovers were originally intended to go to people I couldn't reach before Christmas because they were down with Covid or whatnot, that's why I still have three boxes more or less full.

I didn't want to take any risks. No Hobbit would with mushrooms, after all. *g*

Yay for sales!
Always a good idea to feed extras to the choir.

Singing is hard physical word, the singers need their calories. ;))

If we don't eat them all out of sheer frustration. We shouldn't, but one never knows...

Dismantling broccoli is not my favourite task. It is one of my naughty expenses that I buy tender stem broccoli nowadays. No ripping apart required.
Also, Heidi's little package has arrived. The little Santa's are adorable! I don't understand the postage mark, so please ask her how much it cost.

Will do. I'm glad it arrived intact.

Edit: I've just spoken to her. She said forget it, it wasn't so expensive, she's just glad she hadn't worked in vain. But if you can tell me what number stands on the postage mark, I'll give her the money nonetheless.

I've been thinking. She put her return address on the envelope. Would she like half a dozen of my hand made cards instead? If that will mean she has to pay to receive it however, I can find some way to pay you. The big number on the stamp is 955. Is that the one you're looking for?

I'm really not sure. But the only thing she won't have to pay to receive is a normal letter. If she says leave it, then you don't have to worry, though.

OK. I don't want to leave either of you worse off. How much should I send you? <3

If you could give me a couple of months of paid LJ time — assuming it is possible — that would be fine. Transferring money would cost more than the amount you'd send anyway, so that makes no sense.

Putting food on the table can really be a chore. (I gave up on Wednesday and S2C went to the fish and chip shop!)

How odd that you have to pay to receive an item that someone else already paid to send. Strange postal service. Everything is so expensive nowadays, it is good to see stuff on sale after the holidays.
