Advent 2023 - Day 8

I'm so very tired it isn't even funny! :(
Aside from that fact, though, it was a fairly good day, with lots of things accomplished (and a few left for late night as usual).
Mum finally declared herself to use the shiny new bathtub again (well, the same old bathtub with the shiny new side door, that is), and lo and behold! she actually discovered that she can sit on the little bench mounted for exactly that purpose across the tub after all! She still took her shower standing up, but that fact makes future hair washing a lot easier. Or so I hope. *fingers crossed*
I more or less finished the design of the new front page of the Christmas quiet book. I think I have an idea how to let Santa fall through the chimney upside down, but we'll see if that idea actually works. I've completed the Christmas tree on the snowman page and made 2/3rds of the snowman itself, which was reasonably good progress on a day like this. Of course, there is a great deal of minute detail work on both pages, plus the seaming and the binding, so it is possible that the book will have to wait another year to make its big entrance, but that's all right. I started it just for fun; if it finds a proper home, it's an added bonus, but I refuse to hurry and do inferior work.
We had boiled pasta and grated cheese from yesterday, so I made Mary Berry's chicken pasta bake for lunch. We had half of it with leftover salad, also from yesterday. Fortunately, Mum was okay with no soup for one day. We'll have the other half tomorrow because tomorrow I won't have the time to cook. The last batch of cookies will be baked tomorrow, even if it kills me (it might, actually...) I removed three sorts of cookies from the list; I think 29 different kids will be enough. If someone thinks otherwise, they can bake the rest themselves.
Of course, that means that I'll have to make the prep work tonight. Part of it I've already done, but grinding and chopping all those nuts is time-consuming - and exhausting, as I have to do the chopping by hand. I've already done the Brazil nuts, the macadamia nuts and half the pistachios, weighed things for the first 3 recipes. I'll finish chopping the rest of the pistachios later in the night, as well as digging out the various aromas and cutters and the likes. Tomorrow promises to be a very long day. *sigh*
