So, I gave the homemade Speculaas cream a try... and it was a failure. As a cream, mind you; I think it will do well as cookie dough, for which I'll use it tomorrow. Apparently, ground biscuits don't work the same way for Speculaas cream as crushed ones. The consistency is too hard. But Speculaas biscuits are nice, too, and I'll fill the Stempelkekse with chocolate-hazelnut spread instead.

Other than finishing most of my cookies not much else happened. We had choir practice, which is always nice, Mum had a visit from the physiotherapist lady, which is also nice, and on my way to choir practice I unexpectedly found the lángos stand open.

I haven't had lángos for years, literally, and I love it. There was a stand near my previous workspace, and it was fast food heaven for me. Of course, prices have skyrocketed since I last had any - this one, with sour cream and grated cheese, cost thrice as much as the one I had... I think six years ago? It doesn't matter. I bought the thing and ate it on the spot, even though it was a messy business because of the sour cream, and I was HAPPY! It won't be something I'll do every week (not just because of the price but because it's unhealthy and fattening like practically all yummy food is), but from time to time...

Anyway, that was the food-related happiness of the month, and Mum was very envious that she missed it. Alas, these things are horrible when cold, you can only enjoy them fresh, otherwise I'd have brought her one, too.

We usually have a Langos stall at the Christmas market ... talk about messy eating!

Messy, yes, but oh so delicious! And after enough practice you figure out how to eat them semi-civilizedly. *g*

I don't know what langos are, but they sound scrumptious. Sometimes, when I go down to the sea front in summer, I pick up a couple of freshly made doughnuts. You can watch them being cut, then dropped into the hot oil and dipped in sugar. They are crisp and hot and wonderful, but I once tried taking some home and was so disappointed.

Some food items are only enjoyable when eaten fresh, on the spot.

Thrice as much? The last lángos I had a long time ago were four Euro already!

Our prices have been much lower for quite some time. Now they're climbing up to European levels.
