Today I brought home my freshly wrapped toilet rolls. When filled and folded, they'll look roughly like these, only without numbers:

Each year, I make small packages that are called in Hungarian cat-in-a-sac because one doesn't know what one gets when buying one. They are usually filled with small items: little Christmas figurines, small toys and the likes. They are also very cheap, sold for the equivalent of 10 Eurocents, and the kids love the surprise effect. This time I'll add a game to the whole thing: those who find a silver-coloured apricot pit in their package can choose another one without paying. The lucky one who manages to collect three gold-coloured apricot pits, can choose anything from my display. I hope that brings movement into the business. ;))

It is unlikely that I'd even come close to last year's results, as last year I had all the wares accumulated from the Covid years. But I hope that my stuff will sell. It's for charity, after all.

We had choir practice today, which was fun as always. I've made a few more felt baubles - Velcro work got postponed until the pinpricks and paper cuts heal - and bought more ribbons and tiny, wrapped candy for the surprise boxes. Not having to cook was quite the time-saver, as always. Long live leftovers!

H and my goddaughter called me to distribute belated birthday wishes. My goddaughter and I have agreed to go to the Remo discount craft shop next Thursday. She's never been there, so it will be great to introduce her to another highly addictive place. *g*

Craft shops are so addictive! My hands shake too much for any handwork now, but I still have to scurry past art and craft shops lest I weaken and spend a fortune! I have a weakness for paper goods and water colours. I bought the most divinely soft bamboo wool and can’t knit with it, yet I have a box of wool under my bed. And a box of gorgeous decoupage papers! And a box of fabric dyes I haven’t used yet. Although the fabric dyes ought to happen soon, since they don”t require fine motor control. I hope to explore some Japanese tie dye techniques.
The little boxes are adorable. I’m sure your craft stall will be a great success!

You definitely should give the fabric dyes a try! Crafting is such a joy and fulfilment, and as long as there still are some crafts you can do, you shouldn't deny yourself. *hugs*

What a great use of otherwise waste cardboard tubes. My bathroom bin is currently filled with squashed ones.

When I first started this surprise gift thingy I packed the toilet roll tubes to look like Christmas crackers, but that was too much work for something that got thrown away anyway, plus they didn't look half this good. I usually throw the things into the selective waste, but before Christmas they get promoted. *g*

If I were in your place, velcro work would get postponed until never ever. My fingers fall apart when seeing a needle from afar! Might be because I had a lot of sewing to do, though soft wool only... darn skin of mine!

Velcro work is evil — but necessary. So I just clench my teeth and go with it, despite having little holes in my fingertips afterwards. Just out of curiosity: doesn't knitting irritate your skin too?

Depends on the wool. I had times when my fingers were completely sore, when there was too much wool in the wool. Am allergic to wool, which is a shame, I know.
