Planning for a private birthday

... because any guests that might come have already been here last Saturday. But Mum and I are gonna celebrate on Sunday; still a day early, but on Monday I'll have other things to do. Besides, having something yummy for Sunday is always nice, right?

So, I'm planning to make Moist Mocha Cake, something I've never tried before, so I'm accordingly anxious. If you watch the video, you'll see that it isn't too complicated per se, but there are many steps, between which the cake/cream/whatever needs to rest in the fridge for hours, so I'll start on Saturday morning and will probably be busy with it all day... in several stretches, I think. But I want to make something fancy this year, and since we both love everything even distantly related to coffee, I'll give it a try.

Today I had big shopping day: three different supermarkets, a pharmacy, a herb shop, a post office, a bank and three shops selling craft supplies (among other things) were visited. It took me all morning, so I only started sewing after 4pm. But the needle-holder strips for the other 9 mini sewing kits are now firmly applied, so I can go on to the lashes tomorrow. Or the day after, depending on how successful the cake adventure will be.

I've bought a cauliflower (sorry, noadvertising) as well as a roll of puff pastry. So tomorrow we'll have cauliflower with cheese sauce for lunch, and on Sunday there will be sausage rolls. Yeah, I know, not exactly a festive meal, but this is another thing I wanted to try (they aren't very well-known over here), so why not? The boiling water of the cauliflower will serve as the basis for a veggie soup, so we are all covered, I think.

Two more days for being 66 years old. Then a step forward...

Good luck with the mocha cake! I would be nervous, too, but you are very good at tackling new and complex recipes. Going by my own experience with Sachertorte, I would definitely recommend out the steps as much as you can, with plenty of breaks in-between. We did the Sacher over two days and that was the right choice for us, it would have stopped being fun otherwise.
