Not much happening right now

It is still very hot: we have third grade heat alert for the entire weekend. At least I didn't have to leave the house today.

World Athletics Championships are still going on, so we're still permanently glued in front of the telly, with naps between two blocks of events. Fortunately, all I had to do cooking-wise was to boil pasta for the chicken paprikash Mum made two days ago. Alas, the salad I'd worked on so diligently has gone bad, even in the fridge. Our fault for not eating a cooked meal for two days. *sigh*

Crafting-wise I've figured out how to make the hinges for the inner binding of the songbook and sewn in the front page. The next four pages will be hell, though, and I'm a bit unsure how to fix the spine of the book. Well, kommt Zeit, kommt Rat, as the Germans say. Perhaps I'll take a break tomorrow and make some more little purses while watching the athletics, since I've created some more felt rests due to the hinges.

Other than that, we're still in survival mode: as little work as possible, lots of water and when nothing else helps, ice cream. Lidl sells these sorbet things that are water-based, with various fruit flavours; they are very good against thirst and being overheated.

For the first time since I moved in here, nearly nine years ago, an ice-cream van came down my street the other day. She got quite a line of people, buying ice cream cones, ice lollies and sundaes. I hope that means she comes back, because she parked almost opposite my house. I would love a once-a-week ice-cream treat.

Salad is such a frail thing: dead inside the fridge in two days because it's too cold- I am aware that there's a section for vegetables in each fridge, but mine is blocked by cheese ( can live without salad but need cheese daily). Outside the fridge- instand death for salad. You can watch it wilt!
