Congratulations and felicitations!
Aug. 18th, 2023 07:44 pmHappy Birthday,
wanderingmogwai! I hope I'm on time, despite all those time zones between us. Did you have a good day?

Me, I had a busy day. Got up at ungoldy 5.50am, so that I could hit the supermarkets before temperatures would climb beyond 30°C - not very good for hauling shopping bags around. Of course, the craft shops aren't open at 7am, but that was a sacrifice I had to make. My shopping tour was successful, got lots of stuff that was on offer and some delicious fruit that wasn't. But I got the nod from Mum afterwards, so it's OK.
Later in the morning my friend Evie came over, and we spent a leisury time admiring my stock of scrapbook paper, just because it is so pretty. When she left, Mum and I had the leftover Königsberger Klopse, with leftover soup for starters and leftover melon (cantaloupe?) for dessert. Yum.
I also found the time to make one of the little felt purses I was planning to make. It turned out... acceptable. I'll take a picture once I've made a few more.
Tomorrow will be baking day, which means that I'll have to get up at stupid o'clock again because that's the only time to switch on the oven... unless one is suicidal. But I finally found some really nice strawberries, and now I can make the strawberry cake with pistachio sponge and vanilla custard I've wanted to try out for a very long time. It looks promising and not too complicated to make, but wish me luck, just to be safe. ;))

Date: 2023-08-18 09:22 pm (UTC)You had great success with the shopping and isn't it a wonderful time of year for fresh produce. All the delicious recipes you've been making:)
How lovely your friend Evie came to visit. Sounds like fun. I look forward to seeing those little felt purses.
Keeping my fingers crossed that the temperatures will cool off there. We have a respite for a few days here, and it even rained on Tuesday, we got one inch of desperately needed rain.
