My painting job nears its conclusion: all lolly sticks are now coloured and the little laser-cut items all have one layer of coat, too. I'll add some patterns or highlights later, but right now they are ready to be boxed and put away until, let's say, October or so.

All that's left to do is to paint the other side of the apricot pits. I've collected (and boiled and dried) some 60 of the things, most of which will have a ground colour (red, green, white, indigo and the likes) and later decorated to look like fantasy bugs. There will be, however, gold and silver ones, which will serve as the lucky boons. Those who get a silver one in their surprise package (made of toilet rolls) can take another one for free. Those who collect three gold ones, can choose any item for free. That way we'll (hopefully) generate some monetary movement on the charity fair. *g* People just can't resist the chance to get something for "free". Although, to be frank, if someone is lucky enough to catch three gold pits right away, will get their item much cheaper than if they had simply bought it. At least I hope it will work.

Other than painting, I also made an unplanned food run in the morning - because I can never calculate the amount of bread/rolls/whatever we'll need. So I hopped over to Lidl and managed to spend all the remaining money on the gift card we got from H. and family for Christmas. Not that that would be hard by the current food prices... But at least next week's menu is more or less planned out and the ingredients mostly bought - except the grated cheese and the carrot for the zucchini burgers that I totally forgot. But I'll have to go to the hairdresser's tomorrow anyway, so I can get them on my way home.

It is still frigging hot here. Yesterday was marginally better, but today the weather decided to remind us who's boss again.

Grated cheese has risen so much in prize that we buy kashkaval at Lidl de, which we grate then, if need arises. Way cheaper! And hubby always evacuates the rest, so that it won't go bad. It's not that we cannot afford the prizy cheese, but more and more people boycott such things, either buying cheaper brands or simply not buying them at all. Or buy in Germany...

I've got small, 100gram chunks of Emmentaler in the freeze, for grating, but I save those for cheesy buns. My problem is that I can never get small enough portions of anything, as there are just the two of us, and then I have to be really creative, so that the leftovers are used up in time.

That's a fun idea with the colors.

I think the UK got Europe's share of the rain. It's sunny here now but there are grey clouds rolling in. It has been raining, to one degree or another, for two days so far.

Not so much fun, either. :(
