... make me one very tired camper. So - with a heavy heart and much reluctance, as I had originally planned to work on them simultaneously - I decided to put one of the identical songbooks (the one without a deadline) on the back burner. That way, I might be able to finish the other one and the baby book on schedule, while - with much divine support - I might even manage to write a bit during the next
picowrimo session. Which, in theory, will start the day after tomorrow - assuming that there will be any other participants.
So, today's crafty achievements are:
- four of the eight trees are stitched on, meaning that the total required for one songbook;
- seven out of fourteen sun-and-cloud combo sets are also stitched on, which means the same as above;
- I've selected - and stitched on - two ready-made felt motifs (one for each book) that will serve well enough as a decorative leafy branch for the last page(s), meaning that I won't have to figure out how to do a decorative leafy branch free-hand (that would likely turn out some terrifying mutant);
- I've boiled some cherry and apricot pits for later crafting purposes and spread them out on paper on the balcony to dry. I'll put them later into the oven, just to be on the safe side, but for now the balcony will do.
I also had to cook today - probably the last chance to enjoy asparagus, which I made with bread crumbs and ham cubes fried in butter (well, margarine), and we consumed half the cherry pie from yesterday. Then Mum felt up to go out and walk a bit around the house (for the first time in a week due to aching joints), so we did that. It was nice to get her out again. We met several neighbours (in a ten-storey monstrosity housing 200+ families that is a broad scale), so she had some social life, too.
And the pinch of envy: I called E., our art teacher to see how she is doing. She had a hard year, with the death of her father, the necessity to move houses, soon, and all that. Turns out, she's in London right now. I'm so happy for her, she really needed something good in her life. But I also can't help being just a little bit envious. I haven't been to Britain for ages; although right now, a single day-trip to Vienna would make me deliriously happy, too. *sigh*
