... unexpectedly enough.

The day started with the obligatory food run: going to Aldi and Lidl because the fridge was nearly empty, and, of course, the different supermarkets have different things on offer. I managed to buy more (and heavier) stuff than originally intended; hauling my shopping bags home was a challenge. The idea that I should have pushed the shopping cart home only occurred to me when I was halfway there already. Stupid is as stupid does.

Then we had breakfast and watched some crap telly, and after that I left again, this time for the Savoy Park shopping centre, which has a very good pharmacy from where I needed things. Since I was there already, I visited some of the shops that sell craft supplies. None of those were to my liking, but I spotted at Kik a summer dress for the equivalent of, oh, 8 Euros or so. It is soft shapeless and has a very bold pattern (Grandpa, who liked such things, would be proud), not to mention made of a fabric that feels blessedly cool. So I bought it without a second thought. It could make the eyes of the beholder bleed, but I don't intend to wear it anywhere but home, and it is extremely comfortable, which is the only thing of importance.

Coming home, we watched some crap telly again and decided to eat the lunch I partially cooked tomorrow (and the day after... and the day after... it is a somewhat oversized portion of squash marrow, which we'll be having with Vienna sausages... and baked fish... and scrambled eggs...) and opted for sandwiches and lots of fresh cherries instead.

After lunch we went through one of Mum's cupboards and selected several handbags and a few pairs of shoes for throwing out since she no longer can wear them. When I took them down to the rubbish heap, I discovered a fruit vendor who was selling his wares for a fairly reasonable price from the back of his van. Naturally, I couldn't resist. So, tomorrow there will be apricot jam in the making, then a cherry pie and a cherry compote - or soup, we'll see.

As soon as I had all that fruit sorted out (I even got raspberries for half the price they sell them in the supermarket, but those will be eaten raw and very quickly), I helped Mum putting the remaining handbags back into the cupboard - and it was 6pm already. Why are the days getting so short when one is old is beyond me. I have neither the time nor the strength to do any serious crafting today. I did put on a few additional rows of supporting stitches where they seemed necessary, but that's all I could do.

Food plans for tomorrow sound absolutely delicious! Using these cherries fast is a good plan. We bought supermarket cherries for eating raw as a snack and so many of them were spoilt before we could get to them.

Yes, I never buy more than 200-300 grams in a supermarket, and we try to eat them as quickly as possible. The cherries from my friend Evie's tree — sadly, dead now (the tree, I mean) — could last as long as a week.

I downsized my bag collection drastically last year. As I age, I find matching my bag precisely to my outfit is more effort than I can be bothered with. I now have one evening bag, one light and one dark cross body bag, a backpack and a shopping bag. The freedom!

Same here — O have one cross body bag and one handbag, the rest are plastic shopping bags from the various supermarkets. Since I don't go anywhere else, nothing else is needed.

Summer clothes should always have cool comfort as the top priority — but colourful is good too :)

And hurrah for going out at the right time to catch that person selling fruit. Doubtless fresher than in the supermarkets, too.

But goes bad much faster, as they have no way to keep the fruit cool. So we used up everything ASAP.

A lot of my fruits go bad, no matter if inside or outside the fridge. I´d better do a thorough evaluation after purchasing them- it´s mostly one bad fruit which ´infects´ the rest!

Yeah, it happens. One apricot, plus a few cherries have gone bad by the morning, too. That's why I hurriedly processed them before the infection could spread.
