Meaning: spending the whole day in the smial. *g*

I've made the pineapple and marzipan cake. Currently it's still cooling in the fridge because it's too warm elsewhere for the icing to set, so I can't tell just yet if it's yummy or not. One end is a bit burnt because my stupid oven can't bake evenly, but we'll eat it nonetheless.

Then I made Shepherd's Pie, which means I won't have to cook tomorrow at all! Perhaps not even the day after, although we both like the dish too much, so that's by no means certain.

Then I worked on Songbook #2. I've borrowed the real thing from our vice-conductor for a few days and have been taking measures and shooting photos all afternoon. It promises to be a much more complicated piece than the first one was; not to mention that I've promised my friend Evie to make one for her grandson as well, so I'll have to make everything twice.

To give you an impression, here are the photos. Unfortunately, I still haven't figured out how to upload the pics to Pinterest so that I'd get them in a reasonable size, but that can't be helped. *sigh*

My animals will be a bit different - I don't really like the ones here, mine will be a bit more playful. I hope the recipients will like them anyway.

Oh, and before I forget:

Happy Birthday,
dear [livejournal.com profile] disthrainsdotte! I hope you had a grand old time!

I have switched from never open the door of the oven to definitely open it, after half of the baking time is over, and turn the cake 180 degrees, or the back half will burn. And my oven is not that old but has done the same stunt from the beginning!

I do the same, as a rule, but today I was so busy that I forgot it. *gnashes teeth*

I turn the cake after half the time as well.
Hope you'll like the cake.

It is delicious, even a bit burnt! Mum approves, so it has just made on the list of Cakes I'll Have To Make Again(TM). Not right now, though. The next attempt will be this one:

It promises to be a bit complicated, but I really want to give it a try.

Oh, we very much do! Mum asked for an extra slice to supper! :)
Thanks for the suggestion!

The book will be lovely.

Your cake sounds very good. The Polish wife of one of our church members made us a pear and marzipan cake over TT and, having shared a slice with a friend, I can say it was delicious. (Her husband comes to us on Sundays and M goes to the RC church, then comes to join him at our church for coffee after as her service starts earlier!)

Sounds very oecumenic, which is a good thing in my books. ;))
