Mum and I love them, both raw and in the form of jam. So, since we can order them directly from the person who grows them at school - I've forgotten how it came together, probably through a former student, same way as with the eggs - my choir mate Eeine and I bought a ten-pound-kist together. Today, we met at school, shoved the kist into her car and brought it to us, in order to share the goodies evenly, with the help of Grandma's ancient kitchen scale that still works fairly well. Even though it is not digital. (The problems start when I need something that is less than 50 grams, but that wasn't the case with the strawberries.)

So, tomorrow I'll be making even more strawberry jam. Thanks to such clever tools as a staff mixer and Dr. Oetker's JamFix, it is a relatively easy process. Last time I was done in one hour; now it will take longer, as I have more fruit. Cleaning them and removing the little green leaves/strunk/whatever is the only time-consuming part.

Visiting the school at such an early time (I usually get there half past four in the afternoon for choir practice) had the advantage that I met five different (ex-)colleagues whom I've always liked but who aren't choir members. So yeah, social life, too.

I spent the morning with peeling asparagus, cooking potatoes, making a salad and a soup, so basically no crafty times were available. I cut out the bases for a couple more tags, but that was basically it. Still, every little bit helps.

Especially if strawberries are involved! *g*
But seriously, I just parked in front of the teachers' room and greeted all old acquaintances as they came from their lessons, relieved that those are over and they could let go of the evil little trolls... pardon, of the smart(ass) school children.

Mom and I love strawaberries, too! I've never made homemade jam but we love to eat them with cottage cheese on bread for breakfast or with some mascarpone whipped cream in the afternoon!

Making jam is really easy, though, especially with these JamFix things you can get nowadays.

Nothing so delicious as fresh strawberries, so delicious. Good luck with the jam-making! How nice to be able to see your old colleagues at school.

Well, I made jam out of 4 pounds, and we'll eat the rest — which wasn't much, after the removing the green leaves. They were nearly half a pound themselves.

Strawberry has always been my favourite type of jam. I dare not buy it, because I just find reasons to eat it. Cup of coffee? Let me just have a slice of bread and jam to go with that...

My two favourites are strawberry and apricot jam. I can live without the rest of them, but those two I simply must have in the house. And red currants, but those I mostly need for the baking.
