I started with making another food run, since you can't buy, say, bread for four or five days in advance. Well, obviously, you can, if you either have a large enough freezer or like the taste of stale bread. We don't, so I had to buy some bread as the next time the supermarkets open will be on Tuesday. Also, I had to hunt down some Activia yogurt, which I didn't find at Aldi the day before yesterday. These are the "immense" problems I have to fight in these days. ;))

Then we had laundry day, which means preparing the washing for Louise the Elder; part of that is Mum's job, but the lifting and packing and carrying is mine.

Then I made the marzipan cookies we were discussing a couple of days ago. They turned out quite well, especially considering that I don't even like marzipan. Here are the pretties:

(You can click on the pic as before, but thanks to Pinterest's wonderful changes, that would actually result in a smaller picture. The fault must be with the new uploading process, as older pics still appear almost full-screen, as before. Grrr!)

I also made the zucchini casserole, which was a disappointment, given that I like zucchini. Compared with the very tasty little boulettes (also with zucchini) the other day, this dish didn't really have much taste. As the Germans would say, es schmeckt wie Pappe, and the thought that I've made enough to last for another two days is somewhat depressing. Especially as it was a lot of finicky work. Apparently, my ideas of "quick and easy cooking" are different from those of the lady who posted the recipe on YouTube. If I make it ever again, I'll change the amounts of various ingredients a great deal. But I seriously doubt that it will come to that.

While we were having lunch (at 4pm!), Louise finished the washing, so I had the extraordinary delight to empty the machine and hang up all the stuff. After which I fell asleep over my crossword puzzle. As my Grandma used to say (at the age of 90, mind you!): "Well, well, I can't do as much work on one day as earlier".

Good to know about the zucchini casserole

Rest and relax now after this busy day. I'm feeling dead on my feet too tonight

We are. They're surprisingly yummy, for the fact that they contain so much marzipan.

Not that I'd do a zucchini casserole, but the recipe looked fine to me. Maybe a lot of garlic will make it more interesting?

Definitely more spices; and also less actual zucchini. The three the recipe asked for were the overkill. And the flour that had to be added took away even more of the taste. A good thing there were those fried mushrooms as a middle layer; they were yummy and spicy. Also, I think mozzarella isn't the right thing to combine with a vegetable that has very little taste to begin with. Grated spicy cheese would have been much better.

That sounds exhausting. I love marzipan.

I wish I could send you samples. Alas, it isn't really doable.

One day later, they are even better — softer and more intense in flavour.
