Anniversary

As of today, I've been with LJ for 20 years. Hard to imagine. Where has the time gone? And more importantly, where have the people gone with whom I've started this journey 20 years ago? I find it sad that practically everyone from the early days has wandered off to greener pastures and as a result the connection broke for good. It was not necessary, but after a couple of years I grew tired of running after people who clearly didn't find it important to keep in touch. :(

On the other hand, I'm grateful to still have a few old online friends, like artemis10002000 and mirasaui, who have been there for at least a decade, if not longer. I'm so happy that you haven't left this place, guys! Friendships shouldn't depend on the layout of an online platform or whatnot. And now that I can no longer travel to meet my cyberfriends in person, as I still could do a couple of years ago, online contacts have become even more important.

In other news, I've set aside paper and have returned to sewing. I've made the last animal to the finger puppet children's song book (the rooster), and I've made my very first Weihnachtswichtel (Nisse) - also a finger puppet, using the Christmas card noadvertising sent me as a template. It turned out very pretty, so I'm gonna make a few (?) more for the Christmas market. I'm also planning to make them doors of lolly sticks and give them to friends and family with small children for Advent. Eventually.

We also had choir practice today, which means I got to leave the house for about 3 hours altogether. It was nice to meet my (ex-)colleagues again. And we're practicing beautiful pieces, as usual, which is good for the soul. :)

So yeah, I'm a bit better mentally today.

That sounds so good, I'll really have to see when/if/how I can make it happen. Sadly, it looks like the opportunity for my mom to come has passed, back when we talked about visiting in the past she'd wanted to come too but she's not up to travelling anymore

20 years is a very long time. Mine is 17 and 2 month or something like that.

And just to think that in 2007 I pondered getting a permanent account or not because I would have to use it 4 1/2 years to make it worthwile!!!

Yay for good mental health days! One thing I have drummed into myself is that every time I have gone down to the valley, I have always managed to come up again. I must say, however, that I agree with you regarding online friends. Some have died, but others have just disappeared.

Yeah, it makes you wonder whether something bad has happened to them or they just no longer give a shit. Which, if it is the case, says a lot about how some people interpret friendship.

My LJ was 17 recently, I didn't even know until LJ sent me a v-gift. I'm missing a lot of friends that have left over the years too, a lot of them. I'm glad for those who are here to stay, as I will too. Happy LJ-versary! :)

Time really flies, it feels like it was just yesterday that I made this account, lol. I quite posting on my journal a while back but I still read friend posts, although only a few accounts are still active. So glad we keep in touch, I've always enjoyed reading what you write and hearing how you and your Mum are doing.

Thank you. I'm sorry you quit posting to your journal, though; I'd love to know what you and your family are doing from time to time. I only went overboard with the daily posts during the plague because I needed to be connected, at least in cybespace — and then continued doing so because I'm still very much closed in.
