Or has been so far anyway. Hard but successful, I'd say.

We started with washing Mum's hair (mine, too, but that's a quick and easy process, seeing how little of the stuff I still have) because the hairdresser was due today. Then we had breakfast in front of the telly, which is the best way to eat; for me anyway.

After brekkie I spent the morning with processing various fruits and veggies bought a couple of days ago: beetroots, a zucchini, tomatoes, a cucumber, some pears. It was peeling, cubing, grating for hours. But in the end I've produced a tomato and cucumber salad for lunch, pear compote for tomorrow, a grated zucchini for the freezer and cooked beetroots that will become a salad and blinis, respectively, for Good Friday.

When this was all done, the hairdresser arrived, and we both got prettied up (as much as that is possible when it comes to me; Mum looks like a porcelain doll again). In the middle of the process my friend Evie dropped in for a moment. She had volunteered yesterday to fetch my eggsies as I didn't want to leave Mum alone on makeover day. She also brought some apples and some craft paper she no longer intends to use.

Mum was getting a perm, too, so the whole thing lasted really long. It was 4.30pm when the hairdresser was done, so we had a fairly late lunch. Fortunately, the actual cooked part of it was leftovers from yesterday, so I didn't have any more work with it. But even so, it was beyond 5.30pm when we finished, and I feel like having been stretched and quartered. Why is it that baking never wears me off but cooking does, very much so?

In the light of the above I haven't done any crafting or writing today, which is sad. [livejournal.com profile] picowrimo is barely over, and I'm flagging already. I even had to skip choir practice today, which is even sadder.:( But sometimes you just have to grit your teeth and punch your way through.

You have got a lot done — a very busy day, and I'm not surprised you didn't find crafting and writing time.

I'm having too many such days lately — and things don't promise to change before Easter, either. *sigh*

All that food prep will at least pay off during the next few days. I had a grocery delivery a couple of days ago. The food prep from it consisted of me putting stuff away.

I really hate cooking! Now, baking — that's an entirely different matter.

I am super quick at processing fruits and vegetables. But that´s because I have a DiL who gave all those nice gadgets she got for her marriage to me. Mme does not process fruits and greens. The only vegetable they have is broccolii fresh from the shop.

Go you with all the things.
Do you have to wash your hair before the lady starts?
