Well, second-hand ones anyway. I still have the dead thumb and shouldn't be allowed to do anything else than hauling pots from A to B. Preferably without any poor plants inside them. *g*

But I did go to the gardening centre with my friend Evie today. As some of you might remember, I gave her a (self-made) voucher as a combined Christmas/birthday/name day gift (she was born on December 24, which is also her name day, parents obviously didn't have any imagination), for two fruit trees of her choice. We agreed that we'd buy them together when it's time to plant them.

Which time is apparently now. We bought an apricot tree and a peach tree, and I finally got to see her new house. It's small and lovely, with a huge, mostly untamed garden (the previous owner died two years ago and was too old to manage the whole thing on her own anyway). Evie has already planted various shrubs and trees and is now in the process of planting veggies. She decided to go one step a time, and since there's no-one to interfere with her work, she enjoys herself enormously. Even though it's a lot of hard labour, which she has to do after her regular work at school.

Anyway, we had fun. She came back with me to visit with Mum (they like each other a lot) and to collect her share of Easter cookies, which we didn't want to lug with us to the gardening centre. I'll have to call her later to ask if she's managed to plant the apricot tree before the rain started; although a bit of mild rain means she won't have to water her plants as much, so that's good, too.

I'm afraid this is as far as my gardening skill go: pay for the trees and help hauling them home. It still means a bit of fresh fruit once they start producing them, so I'm content. *g*

That's a thoughtful gift for your friend.
I hope the trees grow fast.

Well, she has a tiny little house and a large garden, so it seemed only logical, as the Vulcans would say. :)

Her house and garden sound lovely, and I hope the trees give her a lot of good fruit!

So do I. She really is a dedicated gardener.

Well, what other lasting gift can you give a gardener? :) We were both pleased with our acquisitions.

I'm like you, I enjoy other people's gardens but have no skill myself. Mowing the lawn and pulling weeds is my limit.

I won't even be able to mow the lawn; and one would have to point at the right plants to pull, should I try my clumsy hands on weeding. *g*

I do not have a problem with planting. I only dislike pruning and pulling up weeds. And watering. In a manner of speaking- all I love about gardening is planting and mowing the lawn...

But isn't it your hubby who mows the lawn... beheading the flowers in the process? *g*

Mostly, yes. Doesn't mean I would not like to do the job more often. But it's the same thing as with the car- in 95 per cent it's him who does the driving, when we are going together. Even if it's my car...
