Housework, bleh!

We had our cleaning frenzy today. I've cleaned out the cupboard under the kitchen sink, removed, cleaned and put back the... thing on the loo that enables Mum to get up from it, scrubbed the bathtub and wiped bath and loo - all that before our cleaning lady would arrive.

When she came, I helped her to move the furniture around, so that she could hoover the dratted wall-to-wall carpet, dusted all the bookshelves, and as soon as she was finished with one room, I reconstructed the original configuration of said room.

This took me from 7.10am to 1.30pm. Needless to say that crafting was out of the question. Fortunately, Mum was okay with Tütensuppe, sandwiches and a salad for lunch, so at least I didn't have to cook... much.

I squeezed in a little bit of writing, mostly character descriptions, just to be able to keep my picowrimo schedule.

After that, I had an almost hour-long phone conversation with my friend Evie, typed up what little I'd managed to write, and lo and behold! it is evening again.

She usually does. But this time she had additional things to do; things that I can't. So I did the bathroom and she did the things that required climbing onto a ladder, etc.

Frankly, scrubbing the flat within an inch of its life every other week isn't my idea of a good time. But I'm not the one who makes the calls.

You have just reminded me that my carpets need a quick swipe with the cordless. I accidentally left a tissue in my trouser pocket when I put them in the washing machine, and now my house is sprinkled with wee bits of white paper.

Bathroom cleaning is what I hate most!

For me it is the descaling of that extra appliance to the loo that enables Mum to use it in the first place.
