... and took a lengthy nap in the afternoon. After having finished the baby book page from yesterday, taking down the laundry, preparing some dessert for lunch (basically two pieces of biscuits glued together with hazelnut spread) and doing some crossword puzzles. It was glorious. Apparently, at my age operating on 6 ours of sleep several days in a row is no longer an option. Bother.

I also cut out the page bases for the next page of all three baby books... after my nap. There will be at least a week of work on those, but having the bases cut out makes me feel good. An illusion, I know, but we all need our illusions, right?

My friend Evie called to tell me about the progress in her garden, with which she is very happy. She's moved houses last summer and was too busy with other moving-related things to do much in the garden, which frustrated her a great deal. Now the grapewines are all pruned, the tomatoes and peas sown and some dead trees felled. She says the place starts looking like a garden. *g*

In other news, it has been a week since the DW importer refused to import my LJ comments. I've tried every day; it's alwas the same: everything but the comments gets imported - and I get the message every time that the comments, too, got imported... only that they won't. I'll give it another try today, and if it still doesn't work, I'll contact support. This is a recurring problem, had popped up a few times before they'd switch providers, so I hope they'll be able to solve it.

I don't import into DW anymore, as the comments hadn't been working for a long time.

I just copy and paste my entries.

They worked well enough — most of the time — until a week ago. I'll try to make Support unravel the problem. They've done so in the past, repeatedly.

There is a lot to be said for a nap.

I can understand how Evie feels — it is good to leave a garden almost untouched for a growing cycle so that you can see what you have, but it is so frustrating when you want to go out there and cut stuff and plant stuff!

Gardening is for her what baking or crafts (or writing, although not now) are for me: a way to relax and enjoy herself. She's gone through a very hard time and is still recovering from the emotional blows suffered recently, so I'm glad she can do something she loves.

I couldn't operate on six hours of sleep for days on end either. At least not anymore. In my early 20's I used to drink liters and liters of black tea and stay awake for a couple of days with zero sleep. I can't imagine doing that today.

They say the older one gets the less sleep one would need; well, it doesn't work for me that way! I remember on how little sleep I used to operate in my early 30's — now, twice that age, I could sleep eight hours, straight... only that I never get that many. Not in one piece, that is; which makes afternoon naps so precious!

This morning I slept until midday!!! I hadn’t set the alarm and my room was quite dark because of the window covers that protect the glass from the direct summer sun. I can only assume I needed the sleep! I’m so glad i didn’t have any appointments or commitments. So, yes, I definitely concur that I need much much more sleep now that I’m older.

Sometimes I yearn for just an hour for myself. The hour after getting up, making the bed, getting a shower, preparing the bath for Mum... I'd so like to do that in peace. Alas, Mum has an inner clock; no matter when I get up, five to ten minutes before I'd be finished with my morning "activities", she shows up to go to the loo. Not that she'd disturb me or want anything from me or whatnot, she really doesn't. She's an angel. But my morning peace is already over then, brain starting to rattle down all the things I'll need to know and by what time and all that...

Yes, that peaceful time to realign oneself so that the rhythms of the inner world match the rhythms of the world’s demands. I don’t meditate, although I probably should, but having that time feels vital.

Sorry to hear about your lj woes. I admire people who enjoy gardening and wish I was one of them. Much as I love to sit in a garden, that is about as far as I feel inclined to let my interaction go.

Well, these are basically DW woes, not that it would make such a difference. *g*
I'm not a gardening person myself, either. I've got the death thumb: even potted plants die when I go near them.

So nice to hear about your friend 's gardening activities. We have 14 inches of new snow on the ground and it's coming down thick and fast again this morning.

I've fallen into the habit of doing a variety of puzzles on my phone for an hour with my coffee. I need to break that habit. Or cut the time in half. I'm in sloth mode!

I like your approach to the baby book project, cutting out all the base pages first. It's very organized and makes sense to do that overall step at once. Good luck with the new books!

Sloth mode is good for the soul sometimes. I play Solitaire every evening, which leads to going to bed waaaay too late, which again leads to zombie state in the morning.

I have given up on importing comments. One cannot have everything...
