... with the three baby books, that is. Today I decided to re-design the inside of the back covers because I found the original unnecessarily fancy. So I chose to make a simple(?) pocket for each, into which a small booklet titled "Baby Diary" will be put, with 12 pages each, one page for each month of baby's first year. I got the idea from [livejournal.com profile] elwenlj, who once gifted such a lovely little booklet upon me - which I then incorporated into a former baby book titled "The Thing of Beauty", like this:

The new design, while simpler, will be a lot more work-intensive, but I don't mind, as long as it will look pretty. So far, I've finished the page bases and pockets for all three books, only need to add some embellishments to the third one. I'm not entirely happy with the colours, they seem to be a tad too bright in some places, but I have to work with the papers I have. Getting new ones would be way too costly - and a bit complicated - right now. And besides, I have to use up at least some of my supplies before I start hoarding new ones.

Other than that, we had a quiet day. Mum volunteered to cook because she'd wanted some spinach for quite some time (she loves all kinds of veggies while I hate them all with a passion), we watched some telly and had a nap in the afternoon. All in all, a day well spent, I'd say. Tomorrow I'll have to make a big food run, as we're running out of milk and bread and potatoes, plus there will be some really good products for a reduced price in the local supermarkets, so that will take some time.

On a completely different matter, we are both shocked by the results of the earthquake in Turkiye and Syria. Those poor people! As if the pandemic and the world-wide energy crisis wouldn't be bad enough! (Not to mention the war that has been going on for over a year by now.)

I do eat them because I know that my body needs them. I just don't like them. They are a necessary evil for me.

I don't even like salad! I just eat it for reasons of a healthy diet.

I love veggies. Never seem to eat enough, though. Must eat more veggies!

Well, at least you really like them. Me, I hate them with a passion. I only like unhealthy things but force myself to eat greens for my health.

I am not a fan of spinach. I do realise we have days where we eat no vegetables apart from potatoes — but I do try to make sure we have some 'healthy' vegetables (although I'm not sure that onions really count!).

I buy tomatoes and cucumbers with some regularity. And mixed salad in 90gram bags if I find it. There's only the two of us, most of the time, so buying the standard 150gram bags would only mean that in the end we'd throw out half of it. And I have a strong aversion against throwing out food. A childhood spent in (not so) poetic poverty can do that to a person.

I love spinach, but tend to buy it frozen, because cleaning it is an absolute pain. If you need instructions re making that little book I can send them.

We always work with frozen spinach, too. At least when you open a package you know exactly how much food you're gonna have in the end.

I'd love the instructions, thanks.
