I brought back the dratted tape. They replaced it. But I couldn't check it there, since they - apparently - aren't allowed to open it in the shop. So, I came home. Checked the first tape (the one that was faulty in the first box yesterday). It was okay. I started to relax. Then I put in the second tape (the one that was okay in the first box yesteday). And what, do you think, happened? Yes! It was faulty! Now I'll have to return on Monday again and have them eat it or something.

Jillian, what was your cunning plan?

Other than that, I posted my answer to the Edhellond group's Xmas challence to ff.net:

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2187161/1/

It's a Legolas-Gimli friendship story called A Dwarven Yuletide, with lots of Dwarven culture, a Dwarven opera performance and other niceties. And it's only one chapter.

Reviews, as always, are muchly appreciated. The muse is anorexic enough as it is. *sighs*

Your story was a treat. I searched for it first thing this morning and after reading can say that I thoroughly enjoyed it!

But your experience with the tape - my goodness - how frustrating!

I will wrap presents today and we will go to my Aunt's tomorrow to have dinner and celebrate Christmas. I wish you a Merry Christmas as well and a very Happy New Year! Now I am off to wrap presents, my least favourite task of the season.

Love,
Mira

Oi! Perhaps you can get them to swap out the second tape from the first box. :-/
I hope you have a merry Christmas, anyway. May your day be filled with peace, joy and love. :-)

Not very likely. I bought the two sets of tapes in two different shops. And I wasn't the only one bringing back faulty sets. It seems a whole series went out that way. *curses*

The first two movies were all right - I was suspicious about the surprisingly decent price: a two-tape-set for the price of one. Should have known something was foul. *curses some more*

Merry Christmas! I look forward to re-reading 'A Dwarven Yuletide' when I get some Internet time over the holidays :)

Ok, when we get set up properly, I will hire the RoTK EE and copy it onto video format and post it to you. That's it, not so exciting but it should work.

Oh, it *is* exciting! Having it in original English would be a treat. I wish I had thought of begging someone for the other two EE's in English - all that Sean Bean goodness... *g*

I thank you very, very much, Jillian, it's awfully nice of you!

I will try to do it soonish, within a couple of weeks or so. I might be able to do the other EEs too.

Is my plan cunning enough?

Is my plan cunning enough?

Oh, absolutely! You are the bestest person to plot cunning plans with!
Thank you a gazillion times!

I'll bring back the faulty tape nevertheless. I won't let them get away with it. *clenches teeth*

As long as you don't mind it might take us a couple of weeks to do it!

Yes, take back the faulty tape, it's the principle of the thing: you pay your hard earned money from trying to stuff learning into the school kids' heads and you expect a product that does what it is supposed to, in this case actually play RoTK EE in colour, with sound and everything. It's not much to expect, really.
