Only slightly crafty today
Jan. 31st, 2023 07:41 pm... because we had a visit from the chiropodist lady (the one who talks a lot but unfortunately can't work and talk at the same time), which ate practically the whole morning, and I also had to go to choir practice afterwards.
But I did work a bit on the Hello Kitty booklets. Three of the altogether five booklets now have a finished front page, with entrance door and windows and bushes on both sides of the door and the likes. The other two still lack the windows, but I hope I'll be able to do those tomorrow.
Even though tomorrow I'll start baking for Mum's birthday party, since the recipe says the hummingbird cake is better if baked a day or two before serving it. So, tomorrow I'll bake it - I hope -, and the day after I'll make the Lamingtons and the frostings for the cake and the blinis, so that the various tastes can grow together in the fridge. On Friday morning I'll make the blinis, the cheesy buns (which have to be absolutely freshly made) and the mince streusel traybake. The fruit mix for the last one has been ripening in rum for the last two days, so I hope it will taste fantastic.
Choir practice was fun as always. It turns out we'll have a concert in the National Gallery on February 19, which is grandiose. We've been there only once, some ten or fifteen years ago, but it's a unique experience: the surroundings, the incredible acoustics... I can't wait!
Oh, and it seems that my friend Erica will become a grandmother for the second time in May. So I'll have to make yet another baby book. No rest for the crafty!
