I've baked a yeast braid. And an apple pie... well, the traybake version of it because it's easier to cut in small portions. And I made Mary Berry's Panang Fried Chicken. And cooked the beetroot for the blinis I'm planning to make for Mum's birthday party.

When all this was done and we've had lunch, too, it was already 3.40pm and I was completely flattened. Mum volunteered for the washing up, so I collapsed in my favourite overstuffed armchair and called a couple of friends. Then I played some Solitaire on my geriatric laptop. And now the day is nearly over. Somehow things require a lot more time to get done than, say, thirty years ago. *sigh*

Consequently, no crafting was done today and only half a crossword puzzle solved. But at least I had two very nice phone chats, so it is good. Tomorrow, there might be some crafting. It depends on how long I'll need to take the Christmas tree down.

Hmmm ... apple pie. I made a Russischer Zupfkuchen today!

I remember that you complained about your oven once- there are lots of recipes of various sorts of bread done in pans on Youtube! I just started to experiment... You are so right about things requiring so much more time now that we are getting older. It´s a shame!

Isn't it now?
Tell me about the results of your experiments. My oven can hardly go above 200°C, so baking that fantastic Griechisches Osterbrot I did once at the local Benedictine house is out of question at home. *sigh*

You know, perhaps thirty years ago you were rushing things way too much and now it's the natural pace :)

Dunno, it seemed natural enough back then. *g*
And I am rushing things all the time now — it's just that my rushing takes a lot more time! ;)

Ah, you have gotten so much baking done! I did some as well but I didn't start until 6 pm, so I didn't get much done.

All of your baking and cooking sounds delicious.

I've learned the hard way that the things I don't do before 2pm or so won't likely get done during the rest of the day. Too many distractions.

That sounds like a goodly amount of cooking for one day. You earned your down time.

Yes, but it also means no cooking on Sunday, which is always a relief.
