I think it turned out well enough:

In the upper right corner: Septie, the sparkly septopus. In the middle of the left side: Grumpy, the jellyfish. I christened the crab Happy. The other creatures are still unnamed. *g*

Other than finishing the page, I took down yesterday's laundry and thawed out the freezer - enough slave labour for one day. Fortunately, there was no need to cook today. Long live the leftovers!

The younger generation rediscovered the phone today and called to wish us a happy new year. None of my (ex-)colleagues, with the exception of Evie, have reacted to the idea of Mum's birthday party so far. I must admit a slight disappointment, but hey, that's what makes us tough, right?

One of our neighbours came over with some yummy tiramisu liquor to celebrate the new year with us; she was swamped over with family for the first two days. She tends to talk without the need to breathe, but it was still nice of her.

Thanks. :) It was a lot of fussy, detailed work, but I think it turned out well enough.

And yeah, the submarine just had to be yellow!

Sewing those corals must have been a hellish job!

Oh yes, it was. But not half as bad as the Velcro work. Self-adhesive Velcro patches are a real punishment to sew on. This page required ten such patches.

Having been swamped for two days, she was probably dying to get a word in edgewise. It's good that she brought alcohol, though. The page looks so pretty. I think my favourite piece is Mr Happy Crab.

He really does look happy, doesn't he?
As for our neighbour, with her it's the other way round. I seriously doubt that the visiting family got the chance to get a word in edgewise. She can drain your energy with all that talk, but she's a very helpful person otherwise.

That page is gorgeous — I am trying to decide on a favourite and I think it might well be the septopus!

So cute! My favorites are the crab and the jellyfish, but the whole page is lovely.
